14th July 2008. Brown malty ale. A very mild hop finish. Not bitter. Drinkable. chriso (21656) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2005 This seemed to me to be a pretty authentic version of s Scottish 80/- ale. Darkish brown colour. Creamy head. Soft malty nose and palate with low hop profile. Some toffee/caramel notes. Not really my favourite style, but I know a good rendition when I get one & mark accordingly. No doubt better from cask than from from nitrokeg, pasteurised bottle or (worse still) can, that most of the raters here have had to endure. Handpump, Head of Steam, Euston, London NW1.
