Flying Scotsman is a sophisticated full flavoured premium bitter beer combining the best barley from the north and robust southern hops. Profoundly malty in aroma but balanced with hints of raisiny spiciness and toasty dryness. Fresh, slightly citrus tang with a rich rounded finish.

Bottle at home. A perfectly pleasant session bitter, but with nothing remarkable. Mid amber, a decent frothy head. Nose is malty, bitter-sweet, touch of toffee. Taste is as expected, no surprises, somewhat sweet malt, mid level bitterness, short finish. A decent brew. By ratebeer standards this beer is unremarkable, but of course there are many many industrial beers out there which would make you weep with joy to find this on a shop shelf or in a pub fridge.

Enjoyable ale to drink. Reminded me of Ringwood Best, more malt than hops. Nice sessionable ale at 4%

Bottled, 500ml bought by Sandra from an unknown source. Carbonated amber with short white head. There are sweet malts alongside heavy carbonation, some sweet biscuit, some fruitiness. Fairly bland overall unfortunately.

Pours brown, like any other standard bottled bitter. Aroma is biscuity malt, vegetable musk, slight toffee, metallic and hops. Medium sweet and mild medium bitter taste. A little too carbonated. Pretty bland but drinkable.

jamestulloch (4051) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 12, 2015
Bottle. Clear amber/brown body with a thin off-white head. Low carbonation. Very faint lacing. Aroma of twigs, earth, mushroom and cooked hops. Flavour of tea, lightly roasted malts and wood. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Weak in all departments.
