COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ruby colored, full bodied beer that has been brewed with a small portion of smoked malt for added complexitiy. The hops take a backseat to allow the toffeeish malt profile and vanilla notes to dominate this most intriguing beer.

BREWMUSKCLES (2687) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 11, 2010
sweet vanilla flavor and vibrant frothy alka seltzer carbonation combines well since there is a slickness to the fluid. touch of fruity and the brew is a bit thin. This is quite different Scotch ale indeed. Maybe a better mousetrap? flavor of light malt and a need to try since this brew catches on quick.

Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 31, 2010
Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear bright amber with light tan head. Nnose of sweet vegetal caramel translates to flavor but with a mild peat, and earthy sweetness. Big malt presence. Pretty tasty.

decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JAN 16, 2010
Copper with yellowish tight head and lace. Light peat, semi sweet caramel malt. Sweet caramel malt peatiness. A bit thin and foamy kept this from being an excellent beer. It is a nice beer.

Pint at the brewpub. Pours a clear ruby with a decent head. The aroma is sweet and nutty with hints at toffee and woody hops. Slick palate. Just a bit of smoke finally comes out in the finish, giving it a tasty meaty finish. Berries and toffee are the main focus with the hops and smoke playing second fiddle.

Tap at brewery. 5.4% ABV. Slight smoke and grain in aroma. Very clear amber brown with no head. Caramel and touch of roast in flavor and distinct hint of peat smoke. Light body with medium mouthfeel. Finish is lightly malty with low hop flavor and bitterness. Very nice beer that required a second pint for proper evaluation.

4 oz sample @ Cally’s. Dark reddish amber pour with a very sweet malty nose. Pretty thin mouth feel. Very malty, not all that hoppy. A pretty solid brew. They apparently won a medal for this beer. Very good lacing.
