Tan head on a dark ruby body. Fruity, roasted malt and deep caramel malty aroma. Fine body and tad sweet. Not to sweet and quite fresh for a beer like this. Bready, toffee, roasted and some coffee in the flavor. Well I do not know what to say. Not bad, but not very typical American strong ale either. Whatever American strong ale is. Well masked alcohol. Decent ale, but nothing I will recommend.

Bottle, trade with McTapps. Pours in dark body with ruby color against the light, medium frosty tan head. Aroma has dark fruits character, nutty, light caramel, biscuit in the background. Taste has medium coffee sweetness, caramel, low to medium grassy bitterness, woody after taste. Pretty good balance. Body is medium, medium carbonation, light oily texture.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel braunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, Karamell, fruchtig, hopfig. Geschmack röstmalzig, fruchtig hopfig, Karamell.

gift from Norbert DuBowy --- Very dark clear brown, heavy cover and thick rim head, swirls of lace. Taste is sweet malt that grows as it moves through the palate to a lightly bittered finish. Uncomplicated, but enjoyable and refreshing. A solid ale.

Geiserich (4542) - Linz, AUSTRIA - FEB 28, 2014
Bottle: Dark brown color, brownish head. Aroma wih roasted malt, light fruitiness. Flavor is malty, alcoholic, light roasty and fruity. OK but uncomplex.

bottle, from getraenka oase. almost black with a beiege head; plenty of caramel in the aroma with a hint of stone fruit; well-disguised alcohol but the flavour doesn’t really go anywhere interesting

kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 2, 2014
The head is medium, body dark brown. t smells sweet, plum, a bit sugary. The taste is alcoholic, malty, aromatic, hoppy, yeasty.

mgajdaczewa (2218) - Katowice, POLAND - DEC 8, 2013
W zapachu dość karmelowe, lekkie nuty czekoladowe i śliwki węgierki. Przypomina bałtyckiego portera. W smaku za to wyraźne nuty palone, brak słodyczy, czekolada gorzka, leciutki karmel. Przypomina stouta. Zatem czym jest to piwo? Nikt nie wie, dobrze pijalne, alkohol praktycznie niewyczuwalny, ale nudny przedstawiciel stylu, którego nie ma. Fajna ciekawostka.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

Unclear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate - roasted, hop bitter, fruity, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - fizzy. [20131002]
