COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Im Zuge der Gegenreformation rief der bayer. Kurfürst Maximilian I. Paulanermönche in sein Land.

Bottle 33cl. Poured into a trappist glass. Clear deep amber, small foamy beige head that disappears very quickly, minimal lacing; aroma roasted malts, caramel, nuts, alcohol; taste heavy sweet and slightly bitter, roasted malts, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, spicy notes; malty sweetbitter aftertaste, burnt caramel, warming alcohol; medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation; okay but not that special.

Clear murky brown with no head. Aroma is caramel malt dried figs syrup. Not so complex. Taste is sweet caramel with some bitter nuts. Long bitter finish medium body, not so smooth. Nothing totally wrong with this but it is not so great...

Donkerbruin rode kleur, kraag is snel weg.

Bottle, BB 10.11.2016. Pours darkish caramelly brown with creamy white head that fizzes away rather fast. Caramelly and nutty malts in the aroma. Hintingly alcoholic. Tastes caramelly sweet with a bit of alcohol showing. A tad plummy maybe. Thin fizzy carbonation, medium body, sticky on the palate. An easy Doppelbock, not among the most enjoyable or complex ones I’ve had. But not bad.

After drinking the "Heller Bock" from the same brewery I had high hopes for the "Mastrobator". Pours brown from the bottle with a crown that soon disappears. Lots of visible swimmers; this looks more like soup. The aroma is lightly caramel; I did not pick up the chocolate notes the bottle mentioned. The taste is strongly caramel, with chocolate, and finishes with a gentle sweet plum sourness. Warming, dry, a bit alcoholic on the swill. Pleasant enough, but I had trouble making a judgement about this one. Maybe it’s innately wrong to be drinking bock beers at the height of summer. Decent stuff, but I enjoyed the Heller Bock more.

Butelka 0,33. Aromat piernika, karmelu w smaku zdecydowanie toffi.

Erzengel (8622) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - DEC 9, 2015
Smooth malty beginning. Fresh, sticky and quite malty sweet. The body is full but a bit sweetish-caramelized without too much bitterness. Smooth and sweetish aftertaste, sugary caramelly, sticky and full-bodied. Interesting.
