Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark roasted, light coffee, light licorice. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, licorice, alcohol notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.
Bottle, thanks to Leighton..... It pours near black with a bubbly tan head. The nose is mild roast, chocolate, toast, cocoa, natural yoghurt and faint TCP/medicinal notes. The taste is initially tangy, mild roast, toast, earth, tangy, dark fruit, light liquorice, chocolate and blueberry with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Yes it’s tangy, but actually still rather nice. jackl (8271) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Bottle @ Bruce’s. The pour’s deep brown with a small head. The nose smells funky, wild. Almost vinous. Red berries, greek yogurt. Moderate lactic tang. Some chocolate and earthy ash too. The taste is similarly tangy. Funky berry juice, more yoghurt. Notes of vanilla, treacle, chocolate. I don’t imagine the flavor profile was intentional, but it works. Tasty. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - MAY 29, 2013

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Light airy palate, a little dry. Slightly odd stout this one - sourish with marmite and unsweet dark chocolate. Semi dry finish. Okay.
Bottle at Bruce’s, London. You are all so very welcome! Pours thick, black-brown with a fine, creamy tan head. Dark and lightly burnt malts in the nose, hints of iodine, suggestions of tangy dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor, some tangy dark malts, mild cocoa, burnt oak, mild vinous quality, some roast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light dryness to finish, some bitter cocoa, charred wood, mild earth, subtle fruits. Pretty nice beer overall. yespr (46805) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - APR 6, 2013
