Hand-bottled. A light amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma is very spicy with notes of nutmeg, heather, and lavender, as well as a slight acidity. The flavor is slighlty acidic with strong notes of spices; heather, lavender, and milfoil (rølikke), leading to a very dry finish. joergen (28458) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 23, 2008

8th Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy, off-white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, grain), average hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (earth) with notes of heather and apple. Light bodied, thin texture, flat carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. hopscotch (11161) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 11, 2006
Draft... GABF ’06... Clear golden ale with a small, tight head. Very herbal, earthy, unusual aroma of black tea, lavender, heather and cinnamon; but not overdone? Herbal flavor with good balance; caramel, black tea and all kinds of herbs and flora. Medium-bodied and watery with almost no carbonation. Finishes herbal and bone-dry. Odd bird, this one. Somehow, it sort of works.

Floral heather aroma. Clear golden coloured and fresh with a crisp fruity lime flavour. Slightly dry in the finish. ClarkVV (6759) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 20, 2004
2004 draught @ the brewery. Appearance of a mildly golden ale, touch of amber with a decent sized white head. Smells like perfumy and of flowers (honeysuckles come to mind). Flavor is quite light, but noticeably floral from the heather. This gives it a lightly sugary flavor, yet the heathery/lavender flavor is certainly not lost. Good amount of that, and it creates a good smoothness. Finish is clean and moderately quick. Mildly effervescent, lightly oily feel from the flower petals most likely. GABF 2006. When I first smelled this I though of the Fraoch Heather Ale. Some heather, lavender and herbal notes. Taste is more heather, light flowery flavors, and some sweet maltiness. Body is medium with light carbonation. Ends with more heather and lavender. Fresh cut flowers and sweet malts. Congrats to Cambridge for this medal winner! Hazy strawy amber colored, smallish off-white head. Convincing heather nose offers a plate of complementing flavours, floral, herbal and citrusy yet moreso from spices than from hops. In mouth, the fruitiness is lively, evoking litchi and apricots while the peppery spice blend rounds it out nicely. Juicy, balanced and refreshing gruit, that might gain from having a slightly fuller bodied. duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 27, 2005
Brewing, Cambridge, Ma. Soft and smooth, with notes of heather (duh). Some subtle raisin and sweet toffee and honey, very soft and smooth.
