Helles and Pilsner combine the pale, crisp body of Pils with the gentle hop profile of Helles. Its pale gold, refined, elegant and dry. Soft biscuity malt, a light lemony, peppery hop character and the sort of bitterness which quenches and never overpowers. Matured for a long time in tank, its how a great lager should taste.

330ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a good white head. Looks good in the glass. Mild aroma with a slight metallic tint. Some sweetness, flavours of banana and tropical fruits with a touch of citrus. Very short finish. Could do with more at the back, but pretty good for a lager.

March 24, 2017 - on tap at Byron. Clear golden with bubbles fizzing up and decent lacing. Aroma and taste that were sweet, slight grain and very light hops/spice.

Self described as a hybrid marriage of Helles and Pilsner, this beer is similar to a German/Bavarian lager although not directly on style. The beer contains a noticeable nose and characteristic flavor of DMS, and lacks somewhat that Germanic malt seriousness that comes only from the painstaking labor of full decoction mashing. Lightly hopped, but adequate. Nonetheless, Id say this beer is approachable, reasonably flavorful and frankly, better than most of the "stadium beers" that others seem to have compared it to. It is light colored, almost straw-pale (but duh, "helles" means light) as a 100% pilsner malt beer coming in at 4.6% abv. Trying to stay objective here, but its not bad.

(Draught at Kings Arms, Bethnal Green, London, 25 Nov 2016) Pale golden colour with creamy, white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, cereal and hay. Malty taste with bread, grass, cereal, some vanilla and a gentle grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well made, but a bit generic. Enjoyable.

Tasted like a lager of old. Nothing about it interesting or flavourful. I guess chilled on a summer day it would be next best to water. Otherwise. Nah.

Bottle from M&S, Walsall. Golden beer with small head. Aroma is dominated by cereal grain with some floral notes. Taste is the same along with some malts and a touch of sweetcorn. One step above a macro I suppose.

Bottle at home. Genuinely this is a very bad beer, quite surprised how bad to be honest. Watery, grassy bitterness mixing strangely with helles sweetness. Grim. Tastes like a very cheap macro lager, would opt for a Carlsbef over this anytime and save the cash!

Cask at Fat Cat Brewery Tap. Golden with a small white head. Clear yellow with a small white head. Bready malt aroma with a nice, clean herbal hoppy touch. Sweetish malty flavour with bread and fresh grain.
