James and Pete paired up for Gentlemanís Wit (4.3% ABV). The inspiration, other than loving the zesty spiciness of wit, lies somewhere between a plate of lemon meringue pie and a cup of Earl Grey tea. James roasted 20 lemons covered in bergamot for 20 hours until they were juicy, fragrant, caramelised and sharp. The beer was made with a classic recipe and yeast strain with the lemons bombing into the whirlpool at the end of the brew.
Itís turned out as one of the most incredible beers weíve brewed. The colour is as beautiful as a beer can get: a hazy, unfiltered warm pastel yellow. The lemon and bergamot poke through the aroma, a hint of sharpness cuts through the middle, itís dry and interesting and quenching and a dry, phenolic spice ends the mouthful like a full stop ends a sentence.

Big fan of a white beer and I love the play on words. Creamy yellow with a really dusky cloudy appearance. Quite citrusy on its own. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy straw yellow with a medium sized white head, some lacing. Aroma and flavors of banana and citrus, wheat

Witbier is not my first choice, but this one has some qualities. Aroma is a bit malty and spicey with an aura of citrus. The taste is wheat, malt, citrus and when the brew warmed up a bit - chalk? I have some problems with the funk in here, but itís OK.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours cloudy yellow, thin bubbly white head. Aromas of lemon and spice, not finding the bergamot, but nice aroma nevertheless. Taste is light sweet, more lemon and pepper. Creamy texture, long finish. Good.

As you would expect this beer forfills all the criteria of the style. Nothing unexpected, perhaps a touch sweet for my personal taste, but most people would be looking for this in a Hefe.

Draught at the brewery. Cloudy pale white yellow color, small white head. Smell and taste wheat, coriander or some other herb or spice and a touch of citrus. Average body and carbonation.

Something simple but nice refreshing coriander flavor. Good summer beer. Do not take no yeast in the bottle bottom because it tasted of hand soap.

Keg at Old Fountain, London. Rather nice Wit. Smooth, glossy gobfeel. Chalky, clovey flavour. Taste holds the attention. Chalk.
