Cask; Status uncertain.
Show Boat is a Brown Ale. An evolutionary sort of Brown Ale, one that’s a bright red-brown and not a murky river-brown, one with a fuller body than a 50’s pin-up, a bitterness that’s bold through the use of Northdown, First Gold and Galena and a brilliant aroma from the whole-leaf Willamette that we used to dry-hop it.

Fruity nose red brown beer. Toffy and hedgerow fruits. Balancing bitterness. Very quaffable

Cask at Southampton Arms. Orangey brown colour with big beige fluffy head. Aroma sweet malt, bit of caramel and not much else. Taste is slightly sweet and malty but not a great deal else. Bit watery and thin. Was looking forward to this, but it was a bit of a disappointment unfortunately.

Scopey (16262) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2011
Cask at Craft Beer Co. It pours deep brown, with a foamy beige head. The nose is leather, wood, leaf and dirt. It tastes leather, wood, toasted malt, big bitterness and leaf, with a very, very dry finish. Light to medium body and soft carbonation. Not great.

From cask at Craft. Pours clear and golden orange to amber with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity and roasted malty. Smooth malty, bitter and light breadish. Mild fruity and vague citric. Bitter and dry finish, toasted malty note alongside of this.

Leighton (22804) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 12, 2011
Cask at Pigs Ear 2011, London. Pours clear, light brown with a faint head. Not much aroma, perhaps some dirty malts. Light sweet flavor, very dusty malts, toasty sugars. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, slightly sticky finish, more toasty sugars. Quite bland overall. I’ll need to try this again because I’m hoping there was a conditioning issue or something. As I had it, this beer was pretty weak.

Cask at the Horseshoe NW3. Dark brown ale with solid white head. Nothing too interesting on nose, but lots of malty flavour, not too sweet, and surprisingly bitter finish. Not bad.

Cask-conditioned at the London Beer Festival, Seven Stars, Bristol 6/12/2011. Medium brown in colour with a slight, off-white head. Slightly sweet, fruity ale with a suggestion of citrus hop and dryish finish. Ok.
