MikeKeller (951) - Kemi, FINLAND - MAR 2, 2014
33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Clear coppery coloured beer with a off-white, small bubbly head. Delicious herbal hoppy aroma has caramel malts. Flavour is on the sweet side with round caramel maltiness and nice bitterness in the end. Very soft and smooth mouthfeel. Only bad thing about this experience was that the bottle wasn’t at least 50 cl.

Deep amber, thick head, pretty good caramelly malt aroma. Full malty character, toast, caramel, rich deep amber. English märzen? And it’s good?

Keg at the Euston Tap, 30/10/13. Dark amber/light brown with a good sized slightly off white cap. Nose is bready malts, cereals, fresh, clean, grain, bread dough, fruits. Taste comprises bready malts, cinnabon rolls, dark fruits, cake mix, raisens, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a managable level of prickle, clean and crisp in the execution. A very decent take on a marzen!

Bottled (from AbM). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is toasted malts, some pleasant floral hops and mild ryelike notes. Flavour is very similar in a very pleasant balance. Camden Town does make some very nice beers every now and then. This was a clean and true to the style spot on attempt.

330ml bottle from Camden Brewery. My first ever Märzen (I think) and very tasty it is too. There’s an earthiness to the hops that lends an autumnal warmth, and a refreshing layer of malts that gives it real flavour. Another great beer from Camden.

330ml bottle. Pours a medium deep amber, with a beige head. Malty, quite hoppy aroma, caramel, light spruce, resin, yeast, chestnut. Off-dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, spicy taste, caramel, chestnut, light roast, hops, resin, apricot. Well balanced, nothing very special, but just pretty damn drinkable. (2013-12-13)

Keg at the Euston Tap - London. Good stuff. Pours clear amber with a fine, white foam head. Sweet and bready like a good marzen ought to be. Lightly nutty with mild earth and toasty toffee. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with lightly toasted bready malts, toffee, faint leaves. Decent.

Amber colour with small off-white head. Aroma is honey, lime and caramel. Taste is honey and smoked malt.

Sample at a Systembolaget tasting. Fresh and flowery smell and taste. Easy to drin, pure taste. Probably works well on a hot summers day.
