3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
At Volo. Red/Brown with a large creamy whote head. Aroma: Sour, vinegar, a little ’pickley’, lots of hops too with a barrel aroma coming through. Flavour: Grassy, wood, sour fruit, tangy, a little orange too, quite an acidic finish. Not bad.
April 20, 2012 - on cask at Volo. Cloudy deep brick red with a solid and lasting large creamy off-white head. Aroma is grassy, resin and like a mild Flemish sour - sweet malt and vinegar (7+). Taste is like a drier Rodenbach Grand Cru, not as sweet, more in-your-face grassy bitterness. Acidic, average body, mild carbonation, a dry, quickish sour almost gritty finish - odd. blankboy (7735) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 18, 2012
Cask at Volo, April 20. Pours a slightly murky amber-brown with a small semi-lasting fizzy tan head.Odd aroma of pickles (!), lots of catty/resiny/hempy hops, some wood and red wine. Flavour of caramel malt, wood, slightly sour fruit and light hops. Average bodied. An interesting beer but one that doesn’t quite work for me. Sammy (12496) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 26, 2012
Very good cask, slight reddish body, with foamy head. Plesant aroma to the malty side. Good smooth mouthfeel. Sour with a lot of insued malty backbone. Very good drinkability. I think the best beer I have had from them, I knew Volo would effort to bring it back. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 26, 2012
[4381-20120420] Cask. Herbal leafy aroma has a hint of a red wine barrel. Clear, dark brown red body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet boozy orange floral flavour has a tangy fruitiness. Medium body has a light tang. Weird. (6/3/6/3/11) 2.9

2012-04-19. Crisp dark mahogany brown body with a nice creamy beige head and nice lace. 4+ Weird aroma, lightly dusty musty character, lightly fruity, sort of sour. 7+ First sip is bizarre but the tongue quickly acclimatizes. Interesting light sourness to it, soft fruitiness below, sort of vinous wine like character, modest bitterness has an intriguing interaction with the sourness. I only noticed a mild wood character in it, though others at the table thought it was quite prominent. Smooth soft body, soft carbonation. 3+ Fruit comes out more in the aftertaste. Overall I found it very interesting and I actually quite enjoyed a small glass of it but I don’t necessarily see myself drinking a lot of it. I would have to be in the right mood for it.
