This beer was originally brewed as a one-off draught beer for our specialty beer bars. The demand was so high for a return that we decided to bottle this one and share it with everyone. A deceptively dark brew that is fermented using lager yeast, our Dark266 is actually a much lighter tasting beer than one would anticipate. One try and were sure youll "have a dark side" too.

Poured a dark brown color ale with a medium off-white foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of molasses malt is quite overpowering. Taste of molasses malt are also overly present in this beer and its not something that I generally look for. Hops are pretty much non-existent and body is just above average. Id say this is generally quite boring

Dark pour, smells light with a bit of malt, taste is only a slight roast malt at the end otherwise pretty plain, watery body, mediocre.

Bottle - 341ml. Black body with average carbonation and a thin beige foamy/bubbly head. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with some roasted cereals hints. Taste is well balanced. It carries light roasty notes. Ends with a fair bitter/roasty finish. Simple, enjoyable dark lager.

dark brown color with a light tan head. Malty aroma, with some sweet bread and a little bit roasty. Taste is bready with a little bit of a chocolately roasty flavour. Hops are present but very subtle. Bit of a dry finish, nice summers drink.

Aroma is a light roasted malt character with slight hopiness. Taste is slight creaminess, roasted malts and a dry bitterness. Somewhat bland, finishes somewhat watered down with not a whole lot of complexity. Body is a dark brown (clear). Head is pearl white and retains poorly.

341ml bottle pours dark brown to black in color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains with some grass and hints of chocolate. Taste is a roasted grain, grassy and herbal hop bitterness with a light chocolate malty sweetness. Light to medium body. A decent dark lager, worth trying once.

341 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a tall, frothy tan head that fades slowly and laces well. The nose has notes of roasted malts, molasses, anise, grass, herbal hops and a hint of smoke. The flavour is balanced, slightly sweet and slightly hoppy with big herbal notes, roast malts and some molasses. The finish is medium in length, herbal and roasty. On the palate, it is light-medium in body, with a watery texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decent dark lager with a surprisingly light body. It is well brewed, but not the most complex. 2013-05-17
