App.: Hazy deep copper with a thin white rim.
Aroma: Big, thick, rich, boozy malts, lots of caramel and brown sugar, fairly fruity, so sweet, maybe a touch of brightness, MALT!!
Palate: Medium+ body, slightly prickly effervescence.
Flav.: Big fruity maltiness, less than the nose a touch smoky, still a fair bit of caramel/toffee/brown sugar; somewhat sweet with moderate bitterness and a reasonable malty finish.
Amber color and hazy. Lighter aroma then expected with smoke, dried fruit, burnt sugar and soapy aromas. Medium bodied with low hops and medium malt content, clean and smooth but not nearly the flavor profile I was expecting from a proper scotch ale...

Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Release. The beer pours a beautiful translucent scarlet red colour with a very thin tan head that lingers. The aroma is a little smoke, roasted malt, and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is sweet malt, some roast, smoke, and a hint of molasses. Easy drinking and not too sweet.
I was expecting more flavour and bitter in a Scotch Ale. I should have read the 20IBU, which puts it out of the Scotch Ale range, imho. That said, it is quite smooth

Pours a hazy copper with a foamy white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some lace. Has a strong smoked aroma with some wood and butterscotch. Taste is big smoky malts up front with some caramel and peat. Has a very faint bitterness in the end. Overall it’s decent but is just flat in the finish after having a nice big smell and a bit punch of flavor up front. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
Pours a hazy dark copper colour with a small amount of white head that quickly amounts to a small ring. Aromas of roasted malt, smoked wood, caramel, a light malt sweetness. Flavours of caramel, smoke, roasted malt tartness/bitterness and finishes a bit boring. chris__hartley (443) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 29, 2012
It pours copper with this unpleasant greyish tint; the head is off-white and soapy (quickly disappearing). The aroma has notes of: prunes, oak, wood-smoke, alcohol, and sweet malt. The taste is light sweet that finishes light umami; there are notes of: soy, wood-smoke, peat, and sweet malts. The palate is light bodied, aqueous, low-carbonation, and a short finish. Overall, it’s so watery - damnit. lukin (621) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 28, 2012
bottle. Pours reddish colour, small off-white head. Strong aroma of malts, some roast, caramel. Taste is also very malty, a little on the sweet side. Decent, too sweet. Canmoore (479) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 25, 2012
Slightly hazy, deep amber colour. Nice 1 inch bubbly head that quickly dissipates to a soapy thin layer with great lacing. Strong smoked aroma that has notes of wood, earth, and some butterscotch. Nice thick malty taste that includes notes of vanilla, caramel, coffee, peat. The peat notes reminds me of the tang from a good scotch..this is an awesome brew.
As the beer warms up I get more butterscotch, banana, and more of that great peat taste! Very slight hops taste brings up the rear in this fantastic brew. I am very much enjoying this beer, quite drinkable!
