For decades the Country Squire was a fine dining restaurant in Naramata. Following its fine example and carrying its name, Squire Scotch Ale is rich in both flavour and tradition. This variety of pale ale is defined by malt flavours that are strong and smoky with a touch of sweetness. The deep caramel colour and gentle hop profile round out this classic style ale.

Gold with a hint or orange or red. Good whiff of peaty smoke and sweetness, taste balanced sweetness and fine noble hop center with nice plays of peat smoke, fruit, light toffee - extremely poised palate. Quaffable and satisfying.

Bottle. Pours a brown copper, thin white head, no lace. Nose is sweet , caramel, fruity, and a little off metallic scent. Tastes thin and rather smoky off the start, it’s really not good. There’s a sweetness, but I’m thinking this isn’t the way it normally should taste.

Not a big fan of this. Kind of smells like a can of fresh tennis balls...and that?s the highlight.

Cloudy golden brown body with a light thin head. Aroma is sweet with some caramel and grain notes, though quite faint. Taste is sweet butterscotch caramel throughout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear amber limited head and limited lacing. Nose is light butterscotch. Flavours are butterscotch, cheerios, some peach. Taste medium/light sweet, medium/light bitter. Medium body with lively carbonation.

Aroma is a rich roasty maltiness which has slight whiskey cask scents. Light caramel and butterscotch aswell. Taste is a medium rich malt body. Again butterscotch and caramel notes, getting some vanilla and rye here aswell. Very oale bitterness on finish. Appearance is a clear bronze body with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

65 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada via coop. Hazy amber gold, bright hop aroma with a background of Heather and peat. Nice hoppy peat flavour, long resinous finish.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear copper colour with a thin off-white head. Sweet aroma of malt and caramel. Sweet flavour of malt, caramel and a hint of smoke with a slightly dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Well brewed.

A fine lil’ pooch lads, fine indeed. A dark tanned Scottish man with a decent white hat. Smoke, wood, earth, caramel and leather in the scent and taste. A bit of a butterscotch basement but nothing wrong with that in this case. I wish the texture was as thick as a Scottish beard though, t’is a wee bit thin.
