Beautiful dark amber color, clean; medium sized head. Aroma of malt and caramel, but too mild. The body is round enough, the mouthfeel is soft; good malt and caramel flavor, above the average, without the annoying burnt malt of other Scotch Ales; there is light residual sweetness and a hint of smoke; correct bitterness; the final shows also a light nutty side.
Not exciting, but well brewed.
650mL bottle, pours vibrant orange. Aroma of caramel malts. Flavour of caramel malt, some sweetness, and some faint bourbon. Not bad. Ferris (15268) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 15, 2013
Bottle - Grains, maple syrup and caramel. Clear copper with a thin brown head. Oaky, caramel, smokey whisky notes and a sweet lasting finish. Sweet and smokey, very nice. Sammy (12197) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 13, 2012
A little smokey taste, better when cold, that left a moderate sour finish. OK for Octoberfest , a serviceable beer, but not an exceptional beer. Mild smoke aroma. DuffMan (10425) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 15, 2010
Bottle, shared with my brother-in-law. Pours an amber gold with an average white head. The aroma is-- and I kid you not-- tinned dog food. It’s meaty and metallic, like fucking DOG FOOD! Really hard to put this to my lips after that attention grabber. Flavours are thankfully more beerish, with light caramel malt, a little meaty smoke, and a mildly bitter finish. Not at all what a scotch ale should be in my mind. Just weird really.

2010-07-18. Crisp copper body with a small off-white head, and light lace. 3+ Dusty toasty malt with odd tang in the malt. 6+ Flavour is similar, starts pleasantly, sweet malt takes on a less than ideal tangy character as it progresses. Average palate. Meh, not to my tastes today. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is a little bit toasty with some light chewy malt. A bit of fairly simple malt character through the middle. Slightly smoky but that is very light as well. Lighter palate than I’d like. Lingering sweetness. It’s okay, but very generic. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2010
[3138-20100718] 650mL bottle. Brewery spent grains aroma has peat, moss, and earthy malt and some mild creamed corn notes. Clear, amber orange body with a quick creamy off-white head. Earthy grains and peat moss malt flavour has a sweet grains aftertaste. Medium body. Average.

pours clear pale golden with a small white cap, little retention and lacing. fruity, honeyed and spicy pale malts, bready doughyness, touch of smoked malt - well integrated, grass, herbs and spices. average carbonation, light to medium body - oily, sweet bread and herbal-spicy short finish. meh. solidfunk (8949) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - OCT 5, 2012
Smells malty, tastes a little oaky, a little bit of whisky around. Id like to say it tastes like a dirty scotsmans kilt but unforunately it isn’t that character heavy, pours reddish orange. Really good head and lacing.
