This is the very strongest of all Scottish ales, with a deep chestnut hue, profound maltiness and high alcohol content. Our Wee Heavy showcases complex toffee, caramel and smokey biscuit notes and a restrained hopping that lets through a smooth, rounded malty beast of a beer.
The Wee Heavy has been matured for over three months (in an oak whisky cask) to keep you warm and happy throughout the coldest of kaavie’s.

(Rating #7177)

Bottle picked up from the brewpub a few years back. An oily dirty brown coloured pour with a reluctant tan head. Aroma is big dirty peat smoke, tangy apple, little farty, sticky brown sugars. Flavour is composed of sticky sweet brown sugars, toffee, raspberry, woody tannin, little oxidised, boozy oak, cakey malts. Palate is sweet and oily, flabby, lowish carbonation. Lingering peat smoked whisky. Bit if a hit mess.

My Bottom Line:
Peat smoke washes over this Wee Heavy’s caramelized cereals, watching over raisins and alcohol warmth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the dark mahogany.
-That peat character is long and sticky.
-Mouthfeel is pleasantly rich, but not heavy.
-If you like Jura or Islay whiskies, this will be right up your alley.
-Carbonation is low, making the palate focus on the malts.

Draft @ The Foundry, Canterbury. Dark red/brown colour. Nose of red berries, vinegar, red wine, whisky, caramel and chocolate. Very well balanced. Very nice tart notes, blends well with the subtle sweet and light bitterness. Very nice!

Smoky caramels, peat, phenols, woody flavours. Little thinner than expected.

Bottle(RBESG 2014): Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, small - but very stable - creamy tanned head; peaty-toasty and also vinous and oaky aromas in the nose; full sweet flavour, full bodied, as well and quite soft; warming alcohol in the sweet fruity-caramelly finish, followed by a slight malty bitterness in the very end. Well crafted winter beer…
