Nyupptappad direkt från lagringsfat@Cantillon bryggeri. Ljusröd vätska med lätt skumkrona. Tydliga körsbärsaromer med en lätt jordkällardoft. Smakar definitivt surkörsbär. Kärv och salivförintande munkänsla. markextrae (4485) - Alingsås, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - NOV 8, 2014
shared glass from draft at moeder lambik, poured a intense red colour with a pink head. strong sweet aroma of cherries, tart, caramel sweetness, same as with the framboise version from draft. it’s like it is a complete different beer. way to sweet, with allmost no carbonation. couldn’t enjoy this as much as the bottle version! bursprak (3285) - Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 19, 2014
Cask @ Moeder Lambic. Deep red pour with a generous head. Loads of cherries, almonds, vanilla, funk. May more fruity that the regular kriek. Sean9689 (286) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 15, 2014
Cask at Chez Moeder Saint-Gilles and poured into Cantillon lambic glass.Alengrin (5722) - BELGIUM - SEP 2, 2014
Ruby red color, pinkish/cream head, bubbles, thin foamy ring. Nose is cherries, tart, funk, oak. Flavor is cherries, oak, funk, Fruit Tarts. Light body, tart dry finish.
I started ordering this stuff in the large pints and consumed many of them. So good, I wish I could walk around the corner for pours of this stuff when I was in the mood. Alas, it will have to wait until my next trip to visit Brussels.
Cantillon’s lambic with sour cherries dissolved in it, tasted from tap at the brewery. This is what the famous Cantillon Kriek is made of. Feels like an old barnyard crammed with sour cherries and other fruit, hay, sherry, red berries, lemon, very complex. Obviously no head nor carbonation as with an unblended lambic (which is basically what it is, apart from the fruit). Dry, complex and totally refreshing on a hot day. Not commercially available but an essential must taste if you want to understand the complexity of Cantillon’s bottled fruit lambics.

Tap. Clear red body with a small pink head. Aroma of sour cherries, brett, funk and caramel notes. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and average carb. Sour aroma that ends up dry and tart. A great Kriek.

Poured from bottle into sample glass (Kriek-off): Pours cloudy pink / red with a decent pink head. Aroma is funk and cherries. Taste is cranberry, tart, cherries... a bit medicinal. Medium body, decent carbonation. VDuquerroux (1868) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - MAY 15, 2014
On tap, 25cL. @Moeder St Gilles, Brussels. An unclear garnet-colored beer with a medium thin pink head. Medium persistence. After several minutes, a ring foam is still present. Aroma of wood, cherry, lactic acid, vinegar. First neutral, then powerful sour note that leaves on sour waves from medium to heavy. Very dry. Light body, thin texture, flat carbonation, long sour finish with a cherry aroma. Overall, this one made me think of the Jonge lambic : truely beautiful wild landscape, very sour and dry. A bit extreme for me. I prefer the tamed version !
