05-05-16 // sample at Cantillon Quintessence 2015.Wow! Clear golden. As a fan of good riesling this is my beer. Very complex. So vineous. Very dry sour. White grape notes.

(from taster glass -from earthware mug, if I’m not mistaken- @ Quintessence ’16)

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, color is straw with a warm golden hue and clarity to match. Nose is light white grape aromas, some hints of star anise. Enough acid and funk to make you feel quite alive. Taste is spot on for some of the better Rieslings I’ve sampled, further blurring the boundaries between wine & grape lambic. Blended with carignan & Vin Jaune for the ultimate treat.

Very nice beer. Deep yellow/straw color. The sweetness from The Riesling grapes balance the lambic quite nicely. Nice beer. I prefer this to the original version.

Hazy golden color with small head had dissipated quickly. Very crisp mouthfeel and tastes like grapes, lemons and funk. Quite sour but not overly so.

Yields a clear golden color, with a small, fizzy head. Utmost funky, tart on the nose, no baby daipers detectable though. Its dominant tartness almost prevents anything else to become recognizable, while a faint flowery grape note manages to cut through. Drinks quite soft and truly refreshing, while its tart finish almost numbes both tongue and teeth. Very sour on the palate from the start, while the grapes produce a distinct, ripe sweetness which is almost on par. Dry, acidic with a late sweetness on the back end, driven by a higher carbonation. Not a real taste development recognizable, while the lambic blends convincingly well with the barrel. A bit too one dimensional on the nose and on the palate, with no subtlety complimenting to the interplay of fruits and tartness.

GothGargoyle (2588) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 10, 2016
Sample at Quintessence 2016. Hazy orangey yellow with a pale head. Aroma is dried stone fruits, sour candy, dessert wine, hint of orange blossom. Light-medium body, lightly sticky mouthfeel, tart on the palate, fruity with a sour acetic finish. Taste is white wine vinegar, orange blossom, sour stone fruits.
