UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 One of my least favorite Cantillon offerings, probably because it’s not a lambic and instead has this weird sweet fruit/bitter rind combo flavor that I couldn’t get into. Pass.

Bottle @ Cantillon. Hazy burnt golden pour with a frothy offwhite head. malty, fruity & funky nose with rustic bread, caramel, lemon, dried dark fruits, hay, cobweb & leather. Tiny sour, slightly bitter, slightly malty & funky taste. Dry, slightly tart & tiny astringent mouthfeel. Nice funk but doesn't quite manage to get all the components of the beer working together.

GTAEgeek (2425) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Bottle shared at the brewery. Pours an opaque, yellow color, with a small, off-white head. Vanilla, oak, and booze on the nose. Notes of bitter roots, and licorice. Sweet and boozy, and surprisingly bitter. Medium to heavy body, with a thick, acidic, and warming mouthfeel. This was startling, in middle of all the lambics. Strong, bitter, strange, yet still pretty tasty.

Koelschtrinker (21492) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - OCT 2, 2017
Wenig karbonisierter Antrunk. Moderate Säure, brotig würzig. Mild herb, was in einer vinösen dunklen Getreidigkeit endet. Ledrig, die Säure wird einen Ticken stärker. Wenig fruchtig, weich holziger Mittelteil und Nachgeschmack, holzig bleibend, süffig. Gut. 10/12/12/11/10/11

Bottle shared at the brewery. Fantastic spicy dark beginning. Very deep and flavourful. Christmas spices together with dark malt and caramel. The sourness is low, fits in completely! Cinnamon and clove, malt and a smooth sourness with sweetish hints. Fantastic.

September 14, 2013 - Zwanze Day at Bar Volo - on draught. Hazy peach-amber with a drool of bubbly off-white head, small lacing. Delicate aroma - sweet, melange of tart (green, yes) fruit, some alcohol. Taste is not delicate - tons of dry herbal bitterness, pushes the fruit back - it’s a bit lacto-sour rather than buggy ... not bad, a little out of kilter. Thick, still mouthfeel, only moderately acidic - it’s more bitter and dry ... pretty decent, easy to drink; not what I expected.

Bottle at the brewpub. Pours foggy amber. Aroma is light booze, malty, almond. Body is medium, quite sweet, late bitterness, low carbonation, rather inharmonic. Palate is boozy and unbalanced too. Clearly not their best.

BuckeyeBoy (8494) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 15, 2017
750ml bottle pours out a golden copper color topped with a small head. Nose is lemon citrus zest oak barrel sour funky notes. Taste is more of the nice citrus sour oak barrel some malt sweetness and leather.

JStax (7179) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - APR 13, 2017
750 ml bottle at the source. The beer is a hasy copper with a white head of foam. The aroma is doughy and grainy. Sweet honey notes. Mild tartness in the taste, but mostly sweet and doughy. Big body and moderate carbonation.

FinnIckler (892) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 7, 2017
Bottle at cantillon, thanks random Americans! Pours cloudy yellow. Nose is wood, lemon, sour apple. Palate is oaky tart, white wine/white wine vinegar, some fruity notes. Good, but this came unexpected (especially because I thought I would be drinking a gueze..)

mateuszk (2769) - Poznań, POLAND - OCT 5, 2016
Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with very small head. Aroma is fruity, light caramel, citric and lots of bretts. In taste fruity with toasted malt note, sour. Medium body, moderate carbonation, nice oily texture, tart and dry finish.
