Looks like black water. Zero head. Aroma is port with a little bit of bourbon. Taste is coffee with a bourbon finish. Doesn’t feel super boozy for a super boozy brew.

At Craft & Draft. The BBA version of Absence of Light, with thin, loosely structured, quickly dissolving, pale beige head and black colour with reddish mahogany brown edges. Powerful aroma of cappuccino, chocolate liqueur, brown rum or indeed sweet bourbon, glue or fresh paint, beef stock, vanilla, coffee grounds, brandy, wet wood. Intense candied sweetness but nothing cloying, dried fruits, candied banana, sourish edge, soft carbo, smooth, full and oily mouthfeel, nutty and chocolatey maltiness, toasted bittersweet with a drying finish, woody with lots of vanilla-like tannins, sweet bourbon, spicy hops and strong paint-like solvents. Pretty intense beer but too solvent-like to my taste, I preferred the regular version over this one.

Gott!!

Draught@SBWF2015. Black colour, no head. Aroma is liquorice, some sweet whisky, mild vanilla as well as some alcohol. Flavour is very similar, with also some mild wooden notes to it. Nice alcohol kick in the finish in this one.

Tap (OlutExpo2015)
Black, small beige head. Harsh hoppy aroma, with lots of booze. Taste is currants and spirits. Hot palate. This is just whiskey with some beer added, even faker than beer with whiskey added.

mjs (7470) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 6, 2015
(Keg at OlutExpo 2015) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had booze, sourness, wood and sewer. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were booze, vineousness, wood and burnt malts. Aftertaste was burnt. A rather unpleasant brew.

Svesse (8616) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - NOV 5, 2015
(Draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 25 Sep 2015) Black colour with brief head. Malty, vinous nose with dark cherries, port wine, coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Malty taste with notes of oak wood, coffee, dark chocolate, cherries, vanilla and a vinous finish with a balanced roasty bitterness and a warming touch of alcohol. Full body, fairly dry for its strength. Quite powerful with lots of oak and roasted malt. Not really well balanced, but very tasty and nice.

Marduk (7946) - Reval, ESTONIA - OCT 29, 2015
Tap @Olutexpo 2015. Pitch black color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Sweet, heavy, boozy, whiskey in aroma. Did you just added some whiskey to your original brew? It really feels like you did. Harsh and boozy.
