Heathen (1500) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - MAY 3, 2013
THOUGHTS: Mostly a very nice imperial stout, but then there are subtle, underlying pumpkin and spice flavors and aromas. The warmer it got the more pumpkin that was. Hid alcohol fairly well. much more spice in the aroma than in the flavor. An imperial stout first and a pumpkin beer second. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was basically opaque black in the glass but with red highlights at the edges and an average tan head that mostly diminished and left barely fair lacing. The aroma had moderate roasted malt, chocolate and coffee; light and fruity pumpkin, slight and increasing underlying, vegetal pumpkin when warmest. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly bitter and slightly sour with a surprisingly average duration. There was chocolate, roasted malt, a little coffee, chocolate syrup; lightly sweet pumpkin, slightly sour pumpkin, pumpkin pie spices, mores spices and pumpkins. The medium to full body was a little oily with very tingly carbonation and a light to moderately astringent finish.

On tap at the Brewpub. Pours near black with a beige head. Pumpkin pie and spicy aroma with some lightly roasted malts. The flavor is more roasty than the aroma, with lighter pumpkin pie spices and light chocolate.

Sampled from the bottle in Göteborg, Sweden. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Spicy and roasted aromas. Very full taste of pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, liquorice and molasses. Hints of vanilla also. Very creamy texture. This is a really tasty, well-balanced beer. Highly enjoyable!

Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 20, 2014
Pours thick unclear black with bright beige tan reddish head. The aroma brings pumpkins, subtle spices, and warm roasty malt pumpkin pie. Flavor brings toasty pumpkin malts and some pumpkin and vanilla spice with a smooth body, especially for the ABV.

bottle as shown .. . brown liquid, has mild foam, you know .. . easy on the spice, burnt ants, and light molasses .. . a decent spiced ale .. . . I don’t think I get enough credit for the fact that I do all of this un-medicated.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a dense black color with a small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and licorice. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor has obvious notes of cinnamon and dark fruits. Finish has big resiny hops. Not much pumpkin flavor, as it gets overpowered by the bigness of the stout.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle at home during a cold snowy day. One of the better pumpkin beers. Smells of pumpkin and spice. Taste is about the same. First taste is of pumpkin notes with spices and a little bitterness after. Pours a dark beer with a tan head.
