Our winter seasonal, the Fisherman’s Navigator is a German-style doppel-bock of exceptional quality, flavors and body. With a toasty biscuit-like malt backbone, it’s unlike any beer you’ve had while managing to remain strictly within a centuries old style.

This years Doppelbock style lager has no spices as it did last year but offers a spectacular mouthful of flavor. EXCEPTIONAL!! Ready Nov 1st

Bottle with fantasia. Medium head and small lacing. Aromas of bread, malt, spice, and caramel. Taste is fruity malt and biscuit. Not a bad doppel.

Rustyham (1836) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - MAR 9, 2012
Translucent amber color, little head, thick, and no aroma. Flavor is a huge thick malty prune-like flavor, very wintery, chewy, and slightly smoky. This is a lot bigger than i expected, and seems to actually make me more thirsty than i was before drinking it.

How do you make a bad dopplebock?? The aroma is dirt, toasted malt, caramel. The appearance is clear light amber, off white head (even the appearance is off for this style) The flavor is dirt, toasted malt, bread, caramel. The finish is light noble hops. Medium in body. Not good.

Draft @ RFD, Washington DC. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with weak hints of dark fruit. Sweetish fruity malty caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish.

The Dan Journal #447. Tasted 2/26/11. 12oz bottle. Filtered with an amber hue. Trace off-white ring of head. Aromas of bready malts. Medium bodied and malt dominant. Peppery and bitter but still rather mild. Meh...

gpekar (497) - Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2011
Poured a lightly hazy orangish copper with a tall creamy light tan head. There were some carbonation bubbles rising up in the glass. The aroma was a bready caramel with some dark stone fruit and a hint of orange. The beer had a thicker texture and a good flavor of caramel/toffee along with a nice alcohol warmth. There was a good bit of sweetness to balance the alcohol. There was a little bitterness on the finish, but it mellowed out fairly quickly with a good alcohol warmth lingering. Very nice.
