3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice Fuggly aroma, balanced by the sweet maltiness of the palate, coming out to play again in a finish that is like a light synthetic dry-hop (if that makes sense). Tastes of pecans and a dark nut that I can’t put my finger (or palate, rather) on. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with perfect bubble balance. Dangerously tasty session ale, for sure.
Pours brown with frothy head. Nice malty, roasted, toffee-like aromas. Flavor is of same. An okay brew, but one of my least favorite from Capital. TheGuy (920) - Illinois, USA - AUG 3, 2009
pours a light clear brown with meduim tan head and light body aromas are very weak malts and lightly hopped taste is weak also it is drinkable but not something I’ll remember hopheaven (91) - St Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 25, 2009
Pours a rich copper with a huge tan head that betrays the judicious amout of hops used. Smells pleasantly of hops, medium-toasted malts and caramel. Subtled fruitiness, subtle nuttiness, moderate bitterness, tasty inclusion of roasted malts. Clean, drinkable, but not distinctive. Closely resembles a Pale Ale and is less interesting than their Rustic Ale. Too well-balanced, lacks bite or zing. Holds its punches. mcjay (463) - Neenah, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 25, 2009
Pours brown with a medium off white head. Nutty aroma with a hint of caramel. Taste is a little watery, nutty and slightly sweet with a trace of caramel. noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 29, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 Pours a medium brown with a large but quickly dissipating beige head. Not much aroma to speak of, slightly nutty, slightly sulfury. Flavor is mostly nutty malt, with a little sweetness in the background. Sharp carbonic edge. Thin bodied, but lively from the carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a wispy head. Flavors of toasty malt, some nuttiness, a light sweetness, and some sort of harsh, off taste I couldn’t quite identify. Decent brown ale, but down my list of favorites. doubelknv3 (1093) - Illinois, USA - OCT 15, 2008
Light brown, clear, with white head. Light toasted malt with mild caramel aroma. Light caramel and sweet malt flavours. Watery, with light bitterness. Strykzone (7659) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 4, 2008
Gently poured into a fluted glass and had an even split between beer and foam. The beer is the color of watered down cola. Head is tan and tiered. Aroma shows off the Fuggles. Feel is very thin with gentle effervescence and the remaining foam provides some creaminess. Some roasted flavors with sugar and caramel. A bit of rye bread, as well. Nice hop presence. The beer definitely improved as it warmed. Just a smidge above average. That1Guy (2237) - Colorado, USA - SEP 2, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 12, 2008 Well, it’s definitely a brown ale, just not a very interesting one. Safe, middle of the road, generic brown ale. Nothing offensive here, but nothing impressive either. IlanMan (1015) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2008
Brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of malt and some sweetness. Flavor had a hint of nuts as well as a mellow malt character. Also slightly sweet. Not a bad brew.
