COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While black in color, this Imperial Schwarzbier is light in body with a crisp, refreshing flavor. It is a darker nod to a traditional pilsner, brewed with local Wisconsin grown malts and hops.

Dark black body. One bottle Poured with a nice lasting 1.5 inch head, the other Poured with a 1/2 inch fast dissipating one. Spicy sweet aroma. Heavy tasting beer. Flavors of pepper, sweet malt, mild bitterness. This is a big improvement over some of the old Capital beers. Looking forward to trying some other new ones.

Bottle, pours translucent black with a thin head. Nose is creamy caramel and chocolate. Flavor is sweet toasted malt and toffee with a dark roasted lightly bitter finish. Light carbonation contributes to creamy palate.

Bottle, thanks George999! Dark roasted malt aroma with notes of caramel, toffee and chocolate. Pours black with a decent light brown head that has good retention and lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt flavor as well as sweet toffee and caramel malt. Finishes dry but smooth with sweet chocolate flavor with roasted returning at the end. Nice, robust beer with a lighter body than the flavor suggests to make for a nice Schwartzbier.

12 ounce bottle from Steve’s on University Ave, Madison WI, served a little cooler than cellar temp in a Zywiec lager glass. Pours a darkly translucent molasses, big creamy taupe head that thins very slowly leaving a bit of cream on the glass-sides...woody, light roasted malt in the rather weak nose, with vague touches of vanilla, chocolate and cookie as it warms a bit...rather sweet for the style (as I remember, it’s been a while) with a very light underlay of grapy tartness, toasted malt dominates throughout, just a touch drier at the finish, very little bitterness from either hops or the dark malts...low carbonation, reasonably full mouthfeel, a bit slick and oily-feeling. Ehhh.

Aroma is a little coffee and cocoa, but flavor is fairly bland - just s small amounts of sweet and roast. Ok beer.

Draft. Nose is chocolate with some cocoa and fudge. Dark brown to black with an offwhite head. Taste is a sugary chocolate with a faint bitterness. Quenching but a little thick and viscous for my preference. Solid though.
