Bottle courtesy of Irish Boy ( Thanks Richard!) poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of cocoa, caramel, rum and light oak. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, caramel, rum, light dried fruit and light oak with a smooth lingering cocoa rum finish. monk191 (2023) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 28, 2016
Not the best brown. Is a bit of chemicals. Smells of rum, nuttiness, vanilla and soap. Taste is cloth but doesn't really taste like much. A bit of nuts, and some more chemical and rum in the finish. Paired with lamb burgers, brings out a lot more flavor, vanilla and rum. Had in the bottle. IrishBoy (4228) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUN 23, 2016
12 oz bottle from Tavour. Nose is nuts, caramel, and hints of vanilla and bourbon. Lightly hazy brown with a small, lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, very nutty, and a very light hint of bourbon. ccex (1351) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2016
Pours an opaque dark reddish brown with small off-white head that doesn’t linger very long. Aroma has dark cherries, molasses vanilla, and some rum. Taste is sweet with a sour, boozy finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. I was hoping for something more full-bodied and maltier than this. My 22 oz. bottle has a drawing of a smoking, Jamaican man with a huge shock of white hair instead of the barrel pictured here. GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2016
Reddish brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, molasses and dark fruit. Taste is fruity, a little cloying. The brown ale base is hidden by it. Rum/dark fruit flavor dominates.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Nuts, rum, oak, roast, and some light alcohol notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied, seems a bit thin, possibly the barrel thinning it out. Finishes with a nice rum sweetness balanced by a nutty roasty note. Draft. Nose is nutty with a boozy overtone. Dark brown with a light tan head. Taste is light chocolate with an immediate alcohol warming. Really warming. Overall ok but I’m not impressed with the base beer and the rum doesn’t add much more than booze. Not complex but drinkable. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUL 6, 2015
(bomber) I’ve rated these seasonal Capital bombers pretty poorly, but due to the concept of this particular beer coupled with the reasonable pricing for a BA treatment, I was prompted to purchase with understandably lowered expectations. Pours a cola brown color with a tan head that disappears quite quickly (like cola). Aroma also has a cola vibe going on with it, but it’s mixed in with some vanilla which reminds me a lot of that failed Vanilla Coke experiment. I’m not saying this is a bad thing as it smells fairly pleasant, but it certainly foreshadows the intense sweetness I’m sure to experience once I drink it. More decadent scents of candied nuts and what I imagine is rum. Little cocoa too. Flavor also continues the cola vibe (rum and coke?) right off the bat before transitioning to a little toasty malt/dark chocolate/oak/vanilla mash up which lingers on the finish. Dark cherry flashes in here as well. Doesn’t quite get too cloying, which is an accomplishment as the other two Cap bomb seasonals were cloyed to the max. Mouthfeel is thinner than expected and carbonation is a touch too high. murphious2000 (36) - - JUN 15, 2015
This is very good! Pours with a reddish tinge to a brown cola color. Good foam at first pour, slight lingering but not great. Not a heavy rum flavor but slight aroma of dark fig/dates/molasses. Very smooth malty flavor with a hint of whiskey woody goodness with drying sour finish. Different in a good way and I like it. arkurzynski (2456) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 6, 2015
Deep brown. Nose of fruity rim, molasses, and toasted malt. Flavor is light fruity rum, molasses, brown sugar, toasted malt, and light chocolate/roasted malt. Fairly sweet but not bad.
