COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pleasingly warming beer with it’s amber hue showing off it’s rich malt heritage. Mildly bittered with a smooth hop flavor complementing the malt. Winter Skal makes a person welcome the onslaught of the cold. Available November through January.

Orange color and decent head. Good carbination. Very faint aroma. Caramel taste. The alcohol isn't hidden very well here.

A pale amber pour with about a half finger of off white head. Aroma is toasted malt, slight notes of toffee, and spiced caramel. Taste is average, sweet with a medium duration and uninspiring finish. Overall a decent winter beer but not the best offering from Capital

Bottle. Poured a clear amber with a small head. Plenty of malt on the nose with hints of caramel and sweet peanut brittle (did I say peanut brittle? Now I truly am a geek). Yeast and bread dominate the taste along with malts. This is a nice beer.

pours a slightly murky copper with a medium off white head. Some wispy lacing. definite biscuit with some grass aroma. Really smooth clean taste with some bitterness on the end. A little hop presence on the finish. Nicely balanced drinkable brew.

Malty Oktoberfesty brew with a few vegetable/pine notes. A nice change of pace, but not the sort of thing I'd be slugging back on the regular.

Tap at brewery. 2004’s Skal pours a beautiful red/amber color with a moderate/thin whitish head. Aroma on the malty/sweet side. Taste is powerful good. Honey and grain. Very balanced, but with alcohol/malt/hops all elevated. Creamy, quaffable but strong. I really like this beer.

On tap for about the 100th time. No hops and a fair amount of malt. Not a session beer, but drinkable.

So this is a Vienna? It tastes like Capital’s Oktoberfest Marzen with a little more roasting of the barley before brewing. Nice amber color with a lacy head, and decent flavor.

TerryR (391) - Oswego, Illinois, USA - NOV 16, 2006
Amber with a quickly disappearing white head. Rich malt aroma. Flavor is sweet malt, fruit and caramel. Spicy hop finish provides some very nice balance. Very solid and enjoyable.

Pours amber with white head. Aroma is all malt. Big heavy caramel malt with lots of molasses taste. Little bit of bitterness from the hops, not much. Ok.
