COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pleasingly warming beer with it’s amber hue showing off it’s rich malt heritage. Mildly bittered with a smooth hop flavor complementing the malt. Winter Skal makes a person welcome the onslaught of the cold. Available November through January.

Great winter brew. Love the toasty, slightly woody flavor. Sometimes it tastes a bit like cherry to me. Clean finish and rather simple but very enjoyable.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light amber color. Light malty aroma, almost fruity. Unobtrusive grassy, almond flavor, spicy as it goes down. My first experience with a Capital Brewery Seasonal.

Beloved Beer (278) - California, USA - DEC 24, 2002
Another good one from capital. I am not real sure yet how it qualifies as a winter brew but it was refreshing. Well balanced between the hops and the malt. Good "session" beer.

A nice malty taste and aroma. Now I am ready for winter.

Nexxus (261) - Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA - NOV 4, 2003
A clear copper/amber color with a thin white head. Very good nose of malt, caramel and a hint of fruit. The flavor is roughly the same with a bit of green apple. A good beer, although uninspiring.

triguy84 (235) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Pours a clear yellow-gold, thin whispy white head. Subtle phenol aroma, no bitterness, some fruit flavors. Light-medium bodied. Just ok, seems like a light Farmhouse ale.

malty aroma with a tinge o sweet hops. sweet flava. a little thin... not much of a finish.

redmosquito (172) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - NOV 8, 2004
Pretty copper hue, with a nice white head, it’s crystal clear. Nice balanced aroma, malty (sweet and nutty), some floral hops, and a crisp and spicey yeast aroma. Good malt flavor upfront, bready then nutty, with mild bitterness. It finishes clean with a sparkling carbonation and a caramel aftertaste. This beer won’t make me excitied for winter as Capital claims, but it may help the time pass more easily.

Pours clear, light brown. Nose of orange peel and cinnamon. Taste is nutty and sour. Good; better colder.

davesarman (159) - Waconia, Minnesota, USA - OCT 31, 2003
Gourgoeous copper color. Nice malty, caramel aroma that is very sturdy and appealing. Medium carbonation and a spritzy head that fades fast. Nice malty back bone, with some very subtle spice notes. Little if any hops, but that seems appropriate in this beer. It's nice having a winter beer that's not all cloves, spices and hops for a change. Nicely done, by a great brewery.
