Never had a skal before. I like it. Thin head but with a pleasant dark apple juice color. Sweet, somewhat fruity nose. A bit of peppery spice hits the tip of your toung first followed by some sweet malts. Smooth mouthfeel, typical of the brewer. Wonderful crisp finish with some lingering spice. I like a beer with a name like Skal--it means you have no expectations. If this had been a "winter lager" I think I would have been dismissive from the start (though I should know better with a brewery of Capital's abilities and renown). My wife loves this beer--very pleasant mouthfeel, aided by nicely balanced levels of malts and hops, with a bit of tang and a bit of spice. Yes, a very basic, yet pleasing combination. edgallow (4146) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 17, 2013

Clear amber pour with not much of a head. Aroma of crackers, caramel, grass. Good vienna malt flavors with crisp hops. Nice full mouthfeel. Fresh and lively on the palate. Really nice lager that doesn’t fuck around with goofy spices. This beer is like an agnostic’s Christmas . JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 9, 2009
Shared by MrFacto at Pre-Sex - thanks, Matt! Deep russet color on the pour, with a nice creamy head. Soft toasted caramel in the nose, along with a bit of bitter hops. Maybe a faint touch of wood in the taste. A nice balanced beer.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2008 12oz bottle-An amber body with a nice one finger head which has an aroma of roasted malt, a little hops, and a little grassy. Taste was amostly malty with some faint hops and a bit grassy on this light body. Not a big fan of this style but a nice tasting brew. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2008

Amber with a medium quickly dissolving tan head. Aroma of toasted Vienna malt and crystal malt. Taste of caramel, toasted malt, mild fruit and spices. A nicely done Vienna that goes down pretty easy. shigadeyo (3730) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 28, 2007
Cheers! (Skål)... Capital Winter Skål pours a clear honey color and has a dense, creamy, ivory head. The initial head collapses slowly to a frothy and bubbly crown with nice lacing. The aroma is moderately sweet malt and grain that screams Vienna! The flavor is malty, toffee, and some bisuit. There is some alcohol present in the finish. Average body, fairly smooth and creamy on the palate. Overall I think this is a good Vienna, but unfortunately nothing too spectacular. I was also hoping for something a little more robust with higher alchol for the Winter season...
12 bottle from buckybeer. Thanks Mark!
