A solid, malt emphasized lager, the firey hued richness perfectly balanced by clean hop bittering.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has sweet grain and hay with a bit of grass underlying. Flavor has sweet grains with a hint of grass and biscuit supporting.

Can. Sour milk and caramel malt aroma. Amber with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt, hay and lightly bitter quinine flavor. Pretty good.

Bottle. Slightly hazy amber pour with a small off-white ring head. Aroma is toffee and caramel malt. Lighter, somewhat fizzy palate. Taste is caramel/toffee, earthy hops, and a bit (just a bit) on the watery side. Decent beer, for sure, but it shouldn’t elicit any "hey dude, you need to try....." texts.

daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - DEC 25, 2008
Bottle. Amber pour no head to speak of. Aroma is malty with some notes of caramel coming through. Flavor is pretty benign. Watery but not awful. Malts and hops are there in small doses. Nothing to complain about, nothing to rave about. Blah.

Thanks to Duane for this. Amber/slight ruby pour with minimal head. Aroma of malt, spice, fruit, slight cognac. Tastes malty, with some frutiness, slight caramel, and toffee in the finish. Solid.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, brown sugar, nuts, tea, caramel, and a hint of earthy hops. Flavor is pretty much the same, with caramel and toasted malts, brown sugar, earthy hops, and nuts. Light-bodied, with a toasty, dry mouthfeel and low-medium carbonation. Nice.

arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 26, 2012
Pour out of 12 oz bottle is clear red with thin white head, aroma brought notes of caramel some slight grass and grainy notes to it, hints of biscuit, yeast, some spice as well. Taste is pretty caramel forward, hints of spice and grass, touch of yeasty notes finishing fairly clean, slight hop bite as well.

drowland (8938) - Georgia, USA - APR 20, 2012
4/20/12. 12oz bottle. Clear light amber pour, almost a bit orange, with a thick, creamy khaki head that cuts but lingers and laces in rings. Mild aroma of toasted bread, caramel, and grains. Plain, but unoffensive. Sweeter flavor up front with plenty of caramel which transfers into fresh bread and a bit of a fruity/floral aspect. Not bad.

3.3
PorterPounder (8226) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2005
Had on tap at Noah’s Ark Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Pours a medium copper, good bubble action and a frothy off-white head. Aroma has a little bit of caramel to it with some fresh lake water accents. Hints of caramel in the flavor with some underlying nuttiness. Sweet, but not sickenly so. Clean, even mouthfeel. Overall, decent.
