A solid, malt emphasized lager, the firey hued richness perfectly balanced by clean hop bittering.

Candied, woody APA/Amber aroma. Almost-clear, woody amber, good bottle cap, decent label, twistoff. A little bland and starch-watery, not very bitter, nutty sweetness. Meh, fair. ABC Betton.

From a bottle poured an amber color with a small amount of head. Light malty hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

I don't know how I've managed to go this long without rating this beer. It's probably the Capital beer that you see the most in the bars around here. That being said, let's rate. The beer has the expected amber color with a thick tan head. Caramel scent, like I've noticed in most ambers from Wisconsin brewers. Very malty, with more of a bready quality than I'd expected. The caramel I smelled never materialized. What did show up was a bit of bitterness. Watery. Capital Brewery can and does do much better than this.

Viennas just aren't my style. This beer poured amber-orange with a thin off-white head. Nice floral hoppy aroma with sweet malts. I simply found the flavor and body to be lacking- the floral hops flavors are nice but the malts left a "sugar water" impression on me, leaving a very sweet but short-lived flavor followed by watery blandness. The beer also had a somewhat tangy middle. Boring.

I like this brewer’s product line. I enjoy this dark lager as well, but I must say that it is pretty mainstream....and let’s face it...I deserve better than that!

I had this at a bar. The appearance is an amber color. It had a tan, bubbly head with good lacing. Smells like a typical amber beer. A bit light. The flavor is of sweet honey, evergreen hops, with a mild bitter kick. The palate was a medium mouthfeel with a soft carbonation. Overall, a decent amber. Not very artful, however.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) Okay, this is comes across pretty much as your basic amber lager. It’s minimally sweet and lightly caramely, but mostly just a dry, grainy, lagerish flavor with a bit of hops for balance. Grainy aroma, lagerish, not sweet at all. Light-medium bodied, dry and clean on the palate. Deep orange-amber color, fully hazy, and topped by an inch of light-tan head. Retention is average, the head fading to a ring, and there are a few dots of lace on the glass. Wow, just not much to say about this one. Average as average could be.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, amber with a medium head. Very light aroma of citrus and malt. The flavor was thin with notes of hops and caramel, not much else. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
