This beer was really interesting. A smokey aroma with a smokey/ meaty flavor. Tasted like a ham and cheese sandwich. A smoked meat and wood flavor throughout. A nice mix in their line-up. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 5, 2011
(Draught at GABF) clearish gold frothy tan head. Nose is funky, Belgian yeast, floral, spices and coriander. Taste of coriander, grass, earth, floral and herbal. Too earthy in the finish and an oily body. brewersspot (97) - , California, USA - OCT 28, 2010
I had this beer a while back and from what I can remember I enjoyed it. I’ve had this at the pub/brewery so it was fresh.
Nothing special about it is popping into my head at the moment. Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 16, 2010
Pours gold with an off white head. Smells of raisins, grapes, floral, some funky touches, peppery, dry. Taste is nicely balanced with some dry malt, perfumy hop notes, spicy elements and a dry finish. Very enjoyable. rudolf (2360) - Buffalo, New York, USA - SEP 23, 2010
Yeast, light pepper, clay like malt, a little grassy and herbal. Flavor has a bunch of earthy clay, some unripe fruits, yeast, light spice.

Sampled at GABF on 9/17/2010. This Biere de Garde pours a light gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and spicy, malt and cereal. A medium bodied Biere de Garde. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and herbal. Touch of spiciness. Nice carbonation. Crisp and clean. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. SamGamgee (2585) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - FEB 27, 2009
Draught at the Downtown location. Amber with a lacy head. Aroma of spices, medicinal herbs, caramel, and earthy hops. The flavor has some toasty, toffee, and caramel malt sweetness, and earthy bitterness, and lots if medicinal spice. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. The spice is a bit overboard and could definitely be mellowed, but didn’t ruin it. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 11, 2008
Pint @ Capitol Hill. Lightly hazy honey yellow colored body. Frothy, yeasty, full and rich, which is something of an odditiy at this brewery, and there’s a bit of pepper and spices, some soapy scents and flavors as well, and some mellow cherries and mild funky yeast in there as well. Texture becomes gritty (maybe even chunky) over time, and the yeast is nice enough, just barely tart. A good one to drink. newbrewguy (145) - Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA - FEB 5, 2008
Didn’t realize "Biere de Garde" was it’s own style when I tried this, it was recommended by the bartender at the VA location. Poured a medium golden color, and a great spicy aroma as well as a great spiced flavor, I really enjoyed this beer.
