Light/medium bodied, orange in color, unfiltered ale. Brewed with a touch of caramel malt and balanced with two types of English hops. This ale is an example of an English Pale ale, smooth and very drinkable. 4.5 % ABV

Draught at the brewpub, downtown
Cloudy amber color. Aroma of sugar. Some caramel and sugar flavor, with a strong bitterness; long final. Not impressive.

Had this beer on tap in DC. Really nice for type, with plenty of hops. Dark Amber, modest head, and plenty of Malt up front.

nimbleprop (8723) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Had this on tap at the Capitol City Midtown location. Served in a pint glass with a creamy, foamy slightly beige head. Body is hazy, amber with yellow hues. Fairly standard aroma, lemons and oranges with a bit of mass produced bread. Flavor was very bitter, obviously, with lemons and oranges, a little bread east and some light fruits. Finish is watery which was a bit of a turn off since there wasn’t much mouth puckering bitterness. Average, drinkable but unremarkable.

beaconstreet (811) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 27, 2006
It was alright... fairly standard but unoffensive. Great for the bitter style though.

molassesfan (202) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 19, 2006
Pours amber with a large white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is the same with some apple, plum, and hops. A bit unbalanced, favoring malt, and a bit flat too. Could use some work.

(02.03.06) On tap at Capitol City brewpub (Capitol Hill), Washington, D.C. Hazy amber hued ale having a large white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malty aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and light hop flavor. Finishes with light hop bitterness. Well-balanced but with higher malt profile relative to hops. A very good drinkable session beer.

JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 23, 2006
Draught at Capitol City, Downtown, DC. Hazy amber colour with a slim white head. Sweet caramel and hoppy aroma. Fruity and quite bitter taste. Medium to full bodied. Good ESB.

whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2005
Capitol Hill brewpub. Bright copper body with a sudsy white head. Mild, fruity malt aroma with some weak, earthy and spicy hops. Both toasted and tea-like malts in the flavor plus more hop character than in the aroma. Has a fruity, cooked apple quality that doesn’t exactly please me. Medium bitterness but the sweetness lasts, extending through the finish. Somewhat lackluster for an ESB.

cvillebeer (134) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 5, 2005
An average and unexciting ESB. Not flawed, but not something I would run out to get again. Their other offerings were more to my taste.

Holdwine (1237) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 17, 2005
Murker looking. No nose. Warm bitterness, quick finish with a weak hop kick. Smooth because it is watery.
