Cloudy amber color. Aroma of sugar. Some caramel and sugar flavor, with a strong bitterness; long final. Not impressive.
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2011 A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, faint caramel malt with faint hops. In mouth, a light crisp malt over timid British hops, not bad, but nothing exceptional. On tap at Shirlington location, April 12 2011. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 24, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2007 (Shirlington, 3/18/07, cask) No notes taken, just a reflection that this beer is every bit as good as I remember it. Lots of caramel/toffee combined with good floral hoppiness. (8/4/8/4/16)

Tap at the Shirlington location. Hazy orange pour with a spotty white head. Caramel malts, dusty and earthy. Okay. nimbleprop (8743) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Had this on tap at the Capitol City Midtown location. Served in a pint glass with a creamy, foamy slightly beige head. Body is hazy, amber with yellow hues. Fairly standard aroma, lemons and oranges with a bit of mass produced bread. Flavor was very bitter, obviously, with lemons and oranges, a little bread east and some light fruits. Finish is watery which was a bit of a turn off since there wasn’t much mouth puckering bitterness. Average, drinkable but unremarkable. ben4321 (6734) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAR 7, 2009

This one was alright, not a standard ESB necessarily, but a nice drinkable beer, not totally distinguishing.
