Pours black with smal tan head. Aroma sweet and malty. The flavor has a bit of fruit and not much bitterness. Body light to medium. Ok but nothing special FLnative80 (174) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 6, 2008
On draft at DC location. Dark brown color with tan head. Roasty malt aroma. Light to medium body. Flavors of chocolate and coffee with a dry, bitter finish. Pretty typical, but just what I was looking for after a long day of walking the city. pericles35 (24) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 7, 2007
Had it on draft at the Baltimore location. Black with a light brown head. The porter has some citrus hints against the almost chalkiness. This is my favorite American Porter. fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 25, 2007
Draught at the brewpub, Downtown locationStine (1795) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 6, 2007
Black color; creamy head. Roasted malt and dark caramel aroma and flavor, medium body. Ordinary.
Sienna brown pour, dark enough to ban the light for the most part. Surprisingly dynamic and strange aroma; dog food, brown rice, and berries in dirt initially. Moments of bright citrus and strawberries, becoming quite pleasant, and leading into hazelnut skin. An afterthought of cucumber. Husky flavor of wild rice and honey. Root beer candy and black licorice give way to a slow coating of plastic and wet bark; mildly astringent at the end. Palate could stand for a fuller and smoother sentiment; as is, thin and brisk with overactive carbonation. Likens itself to a thoroughly detailed and complex sarsaparilla more than anything else. Sweet, rustic; a very solid light porter.

dark ruby, good tan head, funky chocolate flavor, well balanced with an unusual hop for a porter, long bitter finish, overwhelming black patent bitterness, this prohibition porter should continue to be prohibited
Score: i to i+
dry chocolate aroma, still a lot of bitterness, not so much of the astringent malt bitterness anymore but still too much bitterness for a porter,
Aroma: 5/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 9/20
sampled at brewpub. pours a loose dark brown ebony with mild head. light creamy smooth aroma, smoked malts behind the aroma. smooth full mouthfeel, with light finish and creamy milky front. slight tickle on tip of tongue on front with creamy milky finish. slight roasted malty background. One of the better ones at Capitol City, but that doesn’t say much. Dark brown color, chocolate middle, sweet licorice and coffee end. Interesting with some character. Thinish, but OK for a porter. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 10, 2007
Sampled on tap on 7/15/06 at the downtown location: Pours a barely transparent dark brown with a thin covering of well-lacing light tan head. Sweet toasty caramel and chocolate malty aroma has some grainy notes. Body starts with a lightly sweet, caramel maltiness thinning somewhat toward a drier, roasty finish. A decent porter.
