Bottle. Pours hazed amber brown with white head. Aroma cherry pits, sweat, Brett. Flavors Bretty, cherry, some vinegar, bit dirty, long sour finish. Nicer cherry and less vinager than the others had today which implies their barrel program might be getting better. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Sampled at the CCB/RateBeer/Pre-Hunah Tasting (Tampa, FL). Shared by Al Alvarez, boy! Pours a rich well hazed pour, brownish and mellow glow on the edges. A frothy tannish head atop laces ok. Aromas are cherries, toffee, toast. Some oak, gentle vinegar, red wine, faint balsamic. Really in check, well done. Initial is richly done, sour cherries, red wine, balsamic, and nice oak. Gentle vanilla, touches of sour fruit take hold. Nice sour element, red wine, some vinegar. Touches of sourness, richer red wine flavor into the backend. Nice richer flavors, more balanced as far as the acidity, good cherry flavors, red wine. Finish is tart, red wine, oak. Nice beer. Thanks, guys! blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Red wax bottled 9/12 on the label. Pour has a very dark red amber color with a one finger off white head that fell to a ring on the glass. Aroma has sour cherry, barrel wood, and medium acidity. Mouth feel is medium light and there is light carbonation. Flavor again has a well done tart cherry, medium acidity, and some wood. Not the best in the series. thome50 (1295) - Morro Bay via Orange County, California, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle. Pours a deep purple with minimal carbonation even with an aggressive pour. Light tan bubbles. Aroma is cheery to grape with some slight baby diaper funk. Taste is more cherry wine like than anything. Some tart sour notes. Overall, ok but still nothing to write home about. RamyG4 (324) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle shared by Jay at Paul’s tasting. Cloudy reddish brown beer. Aroma is sour, lots of cherries and oak. Taste is well balanced, sour but nicely sweet, good cherry flavor, dry finish.

Aroma: It has a clean, tart nose with some sour cherries and a little funk
Appearance: Pours a dark brownish-red color with a fairly small head
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, with tart/sour fruits and some funky yeasty
Palate: This beer has a clean, almost slick feel on the mouth, and finishes a little tart
Thanks to j12601 for bringing this! I really liked this beer, it had some really interesting component for sure. I’m really glad I got to try this one.
Bottle at Paul’s tasting. Pours hazy amber with a thin head. Tart and acidic, with cherry, light wheaty notes, and a dry and tart finish. Good stuff. dimenhetfield (2554) - , Florida, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Bottle shared with friends. Capt Lawrence does sours right! No if, and’s or but’s about it. Very nice tartness to this one. Jaw tickler to say the least. Very lucky I was able to get a bottle of this. j12601 (13093) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Bottle that I took to Paul’s for the Blind Stout tasting. Pours a lighty hazy ruby tinged brown with a thin beige head. Acetone and cherries on the nose, soft vinegar musk. Musk and acetone with a nice bit of malt and cherries. Warm sour acid and a bit more acetone and vinegar into the finish. Long tartness into the finish with more acetone and sour malt. Interesting, but a bit too much acetone in here.
