Appearance was clear reddish brown with creamy lasting off white 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are simple sweet malts with English yeast profile and hints of nut and hops. Taste are toffee, caramel, nutty malts, yeasty cake with hints of lemony pine hops. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with medium body, average length brownish tick of dry finish. Could have fuller malt profile...
Draught @ Brew City (they called it Mass Pike Brown Ale): This one pours a clear brown color. There was a finger of a light tan head. Some lacing. Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance had a dark brown color with a slim finger’s worth of an off-white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly lace.
The aroma had some nuttiness and earthiness up front and then some caramel and toffee malts in the background.
The flavor leads with the nuts, somewhat sweet with a gentle roast in the background. Sly crisp sweet to roasty aftertaste with a semi-creamy sort of dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV feels good for what it says.

Tap at brewery. Pours clear brown. Aroma is toasted and caramel malts, light woody notes, light milk chocolate, and some earthy hop notes. Flavor is dry and malty with mostly toasted and woody notes with some light cocoa and ashy flavor as the beer dries out. Light/medium body.

12 oz bottle acquired via a trade at BA. Thanks. Pours a deep brownish auburn hue, darker brown pumpernickel hues in the middle lead to a dulled copper orange glow on the edges and bottom. Decent haze in the middle leads to a mellow glow as it expands out. Cakey tannish head atop stays as a decent filmy layer, a thicker ring hits the edges with some decent lacing overall. Aromas present some decent nutty and carmelized elements, decent biscuit, a bit of earth and faint tea. Earthy brown malts present caramel, toast and some dustings of cocoa dust. A bit earthy, decent toast and carmelized malts meet brown malt slant. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a touch of girth with firm toast and carmelized malts. Biscuits, earth, chocolate dustings. A bit of cocoa, some coffee and earthiness. Middle shows distinct brown and biscuity malts. Caramel, dry bitterness of cocoa nib, coffee and toasty malts. A gentle earthy hopping, touch of body is caramel, earth and more biscuit. Simple with a bit of nuttiness, cocoa dustings and roasty toast essence. Backend and finish show some bitterness, earth and toasty carmelized life. Some nut, firmer cocoa and brown malt is flavorful but not overdone. The body never gets too big or brooding but works well for the Brown Ale fan. Solid enough regular offering from Captain Lawrence for the Brown Ale crowd.
