COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Sour Ale. This was a fun one to make. We took some of our barrel aged sour golden ale and added a bunch of fresh picked local peaches and let the barrels ripen. The flavors are earthy, fruity and of course...SOUR. Enjoy this one on a hot summer day with a ripe juicy peach in hand. From the Captains cellar to yours, we hope you enjoy!

375mL bottle for my 2000th beer. Big thanks to Doodler for this big time want. A: Fizzy clear gold. No head at all, though. Great color, pretty much still in every other aspect, like wine. N: Super sour lactic acid. Apricots and peaches. Vinegar. Some residual sugar. Raspberry and acetone. Oak. Quite nice if not overly complex. T: Really shines here, unlike the nose. Lots of peaches still. Apricots and lemons. A good balancing sweetness which seems to be a hallmark of American Wilds. Oak is adding a nice balance. Unlike the sharp nose, this has a pleasant sour quality to it. M: Crisp and light on the tongue. This is exactly what I want from American Wilds. Not the heavy dense liquid Im so often getting. O: A shining example of the style, though I wish the nose had held up like the body. Im still thrilled to have tried this.

Bottle from Goshen Bev. Sour peach, white wine, grassy aroma. Medium-full body. Lots of sour. Dank and fresh peaches. Alcohol doesnt hit at all. Its too sour. Very fruity but mellowed and not sweet or too sweet. Nice. Highly sour. Well done.

Bottle shared with Paul and Max (thanks MD!) Pours a light golden body with thin ring of lace. Nose is light acetone and a full array of varying fruits - green apple, white grape and additional stone fruits. Mouthfeel is tart, slightly acetic with notes of vinegar, green apple, peach, grape, green apples and a nutty, oaky character.

In mouth, a nice intense tart lemon with lactic acid, peaches, light mineral notes, light buttery notes, grapeskin notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. Last rate of 2016. Pours out a slightly cloudy darker orangy color with a small white head. Aroma is south and light tart fresh peach, some grainy notes, barrel and some light musty notes. Taste is solid, nice fresh peach, decent level of sourness, light tart notes, peach juice, some oak barrel. Nice sour.

375ml c&c bottle from Spirits Jackson. Poured a slightly hazed bright yellow gold with a smaller foamy white head. Flavor of sour patch kids, peach, fruity, very sour but no acidity. Smoother for a sour, full mouthfeel and average carbonation but sadly the aftertaste is only average where I wish this would linger. Aroma is basically sour fruits, peach, apricot, dry toast and a touch of wood.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2016 Draft at Bru Craft. Hazy gold pour with a modest soft white head. Scope of lace. Lots of oak. Peach. Nectarine. Apricot. Meyer lemon. Honeycomb. Apple. Feels both bright and subdued. Modestly tart. Faint hints of cucumber and vanilla. The wood tannins dry the finish.
