Bottle thanks to Team North Jersey. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is strong brandy, wood, cocoa. Thick body, cocoa, roast, wood, nice sweetness, very nice.

Dégustée en compagnie de Marc-André. Cheers!

Bottle Easter 2016. I thought this was just "aged on oak" rather than ABBA, but RB claims alias... so i’ll defer (for now). Pours jet black, brown head. Aroma is brandy, bourbon, oak, milk chocolate, licorice, coffee. Flavor is pretty much the same. Big big beer but dangerously smooth, perhaps CLs best offering IMHO.

Bottle split with my wife. Pours a deep jet black with a large dense tan head. Soft roast, chocolate, cocoa on the nose. A touch charred wood. Medium-bodied, big and full of roast, lots of chocolate and cocoa. Soft apple brandy flavors come through, warming alcohol, chocolate, roast. Lingering warmth into the finish, long chocolate and cocoa, soft wood and apple.

Cork/caged bottle.

Appearance: Pitch black body with a dark brown body.

Aroma: Mild apple brandy with some oak, mild aroma, but pleasant. Not much in the way from the stout though.

Taste: Mild cooca, but apple brandy and oak show through more. Some booziness. Base beer seems hidden, but it’s a nice beer.

Palate: Medium to full bodied, mild carbonation.

Overall: Not bad, but a bit bland.

Bottle supplied after brewery run from bythierlimpin. Yes, it had become quite dusty sitting in my basement for six months. This critter, if’n you can find one is certainly what you are looking for in this style. Astoundingly large bodied but somehow not overwhelming with the full bodied path it pulls your willing self down. Molasses, dark and roasted grains shadowed by hops are all encircled with the luscious oak tone. Finish has vanilla tone and long dry resin. Yum.

Yum yum yum...The frost monster cometh...Big stout from a little corked bottle...picked this up from the brewery and left to store with a good friend...Well, we waited long enough...black pour, coffee head...Big warm taste, the oak stave carried through from beginning to end... roasted malt punch in the tongue... Yum.
