COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep and dark as a cold winter night… The Frost Monster is lurking. This beast of an ale started out as a pilot batch concept by packaging line veteran Justin Perrone. Thinking of his own monster (dog) “Frost” he wanted to make a beer that had intense flavor, aroma and strength. Working with Brewmaster Scott Vaccaro and Head Brewer Scott Tobin they came up with an Imperial Stout only befitting its title.

SENSORY PROFILE
Brewed with a massive amount of malt to give it the rich, roasted and smokey flavors expected of such an ale. Black in color with a head as white as the beast itself. Drink it this winter or lay some down for winters to come.

Draught & Top Hops. Opaque dark brown with smallish foamy tan head, mocha aroma, medium carbonation, bitter chocolate taste generously laced with alcohol, thick body, long bitter finish with mocha. The alcohol bite is too obvious, could be much better.

Probably would not have bought this if the ABV was in evidence on the bottle. It is not and I’m being sideswiped by yet another 12 percenter this month (Aventinus Eisbock, Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad). Poured into an oversized wine goblet, very dark brown with a thin, persistent light brown head. Chocolaty malt aroma. Fairly new bottle, doesn’t seem barrel aged nor does it claim to be. This tastes like a liquid chocolate pastry, light on the sweetness and heavy on the dark chocolate. Not really tasting the booze, yet I feel as if, when I exhale, I could light up my breath with a match. Medium heavy body with a slight bitterness at the finish. Decent Imperial but nothing special.

Roasty malts and dark chocolate with a bit of dark roast coffee. Really nice and warm. Not sure if this is indeed 12 percent but if it is it hides it quite well.

12 oz. bottle, pours a jet black with a small but substantial brown head. Aroma is robust, with tons of rich roasted malt upfront, followed by unsweetened dark cocoa and some boozy woody qualities in there. Flavour is rich and robust, with truckloads of roasted malt dominating, followed by more subdued notes of dark cocoa and maybe a touch of toasted caramel. Fairly low residual sweetness. Robust and very well-constructed. Excellent.

Sweet malty and a little bread aroma. Light tan head that fades immediately with a very black body. Thin bodied but still very sweet. Lots of cocoa flavor in there delicious. Sweet tasting but not even a hint of cloyingness. Very good.

ABUSEDGOAT (2852) - California, USA - JUN 10, 2016
Black pour, tan head, good lace/retention. Aroma is chocolate, roast, darker fruit, grapefruit. Medium to full body, pretty straightforward flavors and well made - but not all that exciting either.
