Thanks to JoeMcPhee for sending this bottle my way - I was going to wait to try this beer, but I just couldn’t - pours a murky red, with a nearly non-existent head - she’s got a lovely aroma - cherry and grape skin tannins, potent oak, mild acetic character, vinegar, moderate earthy funk, light acidity, red wine, and just a hint of fruity sweetness underneath - the flavor is dry and immensely oaky, with loads of tannic, red wine flavor - some mild acetic notes, and an acidic kick that both compliment the dryness - a bit briny/salty through the middle, with a good amount of cheesy, earthy funk - finishes with some kriek-ish cherry character and lingering red wine vinegar, oak and acetone - I prefer the Castleton, but this is still a mighty fine sour ale from Scott.
Draft taproom. Aroma isn’t alcohol, sweet dark fruit, nail polish. Flavornis sweet tart, alcohol, dark fruit, grass. Tasty. jfb (6984) - GERMANY - DEC 8, 2017
(bottle) murky amber-brown colour with a small off-white head. aroma of coconut and chlorine, with a touch of vanilla icing, some unobtrusive acetone and old walnuts. flavour is mostly cherry juice, coconut milk and vanilla. quite mellow, with a hint of earth and cherry pips in the slightly tannic semi-tart roasted chestnut finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation. jonas (8278) - Garching close to the monks, GERMANY - DEC 7, 2017
Sample from Erzengel, thanks. Nice dry wooden bretty nose,
Medium full mealy base, balsamico, light nut, a hint wood, well balanced and nice! Ritzn (1984) - GERMANY - DEC 7, 2017
Murky darker brown. Aroma is milk chocolate, some sour berries, also lemon. Fits together better than it sounds. Taste is incredibly sour, creeps into your tongue and stays there. Well the finish is enjoyable but the immediate touch is too harsh for me. SinH4 (6566) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - DEC 7, 2017
Bottle, many thanks Erzengel! Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is grapes, earthy, chocolate. Taste is chocolate, raspberry, earthy, grapes. Silky mouthfeel with low carbonation. Beautiful!

Red currant nose. Hazy tea, thin head. Currant and funk. Light body, soft carbonation, nicely tart, absolutely no alcohol detected. Nickls (2616) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - NOV 17, 2016
Tap. Foamy light tan head, ruby murky brown. Sour dark cherries, oak, light toffee, some mineral, and dark sweet grapes in the aroma and a soft balsamic sourness. Flavor is sour but really well balanced, oaky and a touch dry, sour dark cherries again and a bit vinous. Lighter body with tight carbonation. Nice.
