bottle received from tgncc in trade. I liked this more than most. I was out on smoked beers, but this one was done with the right amount of smoke - not overpowering and underneath is just a damn good porter. taste was cola, smoke, malt, high carbonation. good stuff. would drink again! Bottle. Pours hazy blackish with tan head. Nose was roasty dark malt, mild smokiness, mild black licorice, black currant. Tasted complex, with roasty dark malt, some rauchiness, cacao, black currant, and late hops. Complex finish. maekchu (3911) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 6, 2014
Bottle. Sweet chocolate aroma, with dark fruit leavings and very light smoke. Medium dark brown color. Some good roast, chocolate, ripe and slightly rude dark fruit. Light fruit finish. Thin-medium body. Somewhat tasty. Quite thin-bodied stuff, with very little smoke. Underdone overall. KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 5, 2014

Appearance: Deep opaque chestnut body with a creamy tan head. The head has good retention forming a creamy coating.
Aroma: Mild smoked meats with perhaps a hint of hickory backed by semi-sweet chocolate and hints of brown sugar. Good strength, appealing.
Taste: The smoke runs throughout being a prominent and center flavor. Hints of licorice underlie it with semi-sweet chocolate, slightly smoked meat finish that lingers as well. Very slight burnt malt flavor. Very nice.
Palate: Full-bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a very drinkable smoked porter that doesn’t overpower the malts with smokiness. The flavor is really cohesive. Well done smoked porter.
Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks troubles. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma is a bit smoky, roasty with some dark chocolate and a meaty note. Bittersweet roasty flavor with a bit of dark chocolate, a light coffee note, mild smokiness and a more bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Ed5388 (3480) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - FEB 18, 2014
Sampled at Big Brew Beer Festival (Morristown). Poured a deep dark brown color with a small khaki colored head. Aroma of roasted and caramel malts, and smoke. Taste of smoke, roasted malts, chocolate, and a burnt char finish. bp (922) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 5, 2014
Bottle: pours dark black with a thin tan head, smokey aroma, taste is malty, smokey but not overwhelming. I just don’t enjoy smoke beers so hard to rate this high.
