Pretty interesting. I’m certainly no smoked guy, and I usually like my porters and stouts pretty roasted, but the complimentary sweet/chocolate malts and the relatively subtle smoked flavor works well. Much more palatable than the SN smoked porter.
500ml bottle from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Deep mahogany in colour with a large and long lasting tan head, good retention, good lacing. The aroma is peaty, some smoke, light chocolate, roasted malts. The flavour is smoky upfront, some roast, a bit of sweet chocolate, light spice. Clean mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes average length, smoky. A nicely balance not over the top smoked beer. gregwilsonstl (2466) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 5, 2015
Dark black. Never ending thick head. Yep. this tastes like smoke...starts a little sweet then becomes charred after sitting on palate. Thanks Jow. MaBeer1972 (2039) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 2, 2015
Bottle from Oliver’s in Albany. Pours out jet black with a huge and frothy deep tan head. Very thick. Mildly smoky and roasty aromas. Flavor is deep and roasty with layers of smoke and sweet malts. Very well balanced. Good bitterness in the middle. Long roasty finish. Fatehunter (2561) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 1, 2015
Pours a thin head on a black body.
The aroma is mild smoke and roasted malt.
The taste is mostly roasted malt with mild smoke and touch of burnt wood.
The texture is fizzy with moderate carbonation.
It’s nice without an overpowering smoke flavor. hopscotch (11049) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2014
Bottle... Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, creamy, light khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is a luxuriant swirl of brownie brittle, melted fudge and campfire smoke. Medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor offers dark chocolate, charred wood and campfire smokiness. Short, crisp, singed finish.

On tap at Capone’s. Pours cola brown with aroma of smoke, dark fruit, and roasted malt. Dark fruit licorice, chocolate, and smoke flavor. Very nice beer! Reynolds314 (3433) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 28, 2014
Murky brown black color with oily head. Aroma is smoked meat, and grains maybe some raisin. Taste is really oddly meaty in the smoke which i dont dig. Decent at best. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - NOV 26, 2014
pretty average, light msokyness, sweetish body, sweet finish, its ok, moderate-thick body. Meh, its lame-o. Goodgrief (2022) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - NOV 22, 2014
On tap at Pinocchio’s. Dark pour, smallish head. Chocolate aroma with some hints of bacon. Roasted flavor, mild sweetness with some mild smokey flavor. Well balanced and crafted. Enjoyable but not a must try. Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - SEP 21, 2014
Pours a burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam. Nice balance of roasted, bittersweet cocoa and well integrated smoke. Layers of ash, bakers chocolate and some composted earthiness.
