Original Lager
Ingredients: Burton water; White Lager malt; English hops (varies); yeast.
Carling Black Label developed as a brand in 1927 from the Canadian brewery Carling O’Keefe's existing Black & White Lager. It was introduced into the UK in 1952 in bottles, the first UK keg was launched in 1965. The brand became hugely successful in the UK via a very popular ad campaign - "I bet he drinks Carling Black Label", and has been Britain's best selling beer brand since then. The original Carling O’Keefe brewery was purchased by Molson in the 1980s. Coors later purchased both Molson and the UK license holders Bass. The name changed from Carling Black Label to Carling, with the subtitle Original Lager, in 1997.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2017 Tramps piss for football fans who have no clue what real beer is. Tastes like the smell of wet cardboard that has rotted in the street.

Can from Mark. pours catpiss. Nose is citrus, straw, some malt. Palate is citrus, very watery. Not great.

500 ml can, I think it was from Seiyu. Pours clear light amber, some foam that even leaves lacings. Nose has corn, wet cardboard, stuffy biscuits. Tastes sweet, bitterness very light, average carbonation, biscuity and watery. No real aftertaste, maybe just a bit of plasticky feel lingering. Not really pleasant to drink, too characterless.

440 ml can. Aromas are malts with some acidy notes. Fluffy white head an clear golden body. Taste is plain malts. Quite watery. Just like any other, mass produced cheap lager.

Characterless lager not much aroma or flavour just damp cardboard, 1 pint on a hot day is ok but soon becomes very bland and boring.

absolutely dreadful swill that is absolutely rancid canned. even ice cold, battling through a carling can be difficult some times. however, there is something possibly nostalgic about an ice cold pint of carling on a summer’s day. this is a brew best left in the past, for me at least.

Keg @The Pleasence Courtyard, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Festival 2017. Pours copper/golden, thin white head. Nose is grass, wet hay and some honey. Taste is metallic and nothing else.

500ml can from Seiyu. Pours a clear pale gold, nice finger of lasting foam. Grainy malt nose, sweet, grassy, nothing bad. Sweet lager malt flavour, hop bittering on the backend, simple inoffensive macro malt notes. Light body, fizzy, a bit harsh at the end, kinda mouth coating and oily rather than a good crisp clean finish. It is what it is and seems in decent condition imported to Japan.

Pint. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Aroma: Very mild citrus and grass notes. Mild malt notes. Taste: Not much flavour here. Very basic malt flavour. Moderate to high carbonation. Thin bodied. This is a very very average beer.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2017 Bland, watery, fizzy gold pour, blink and it’s gone head. Faintest of malting and hopping in the aroma and taste. This is corn water if anything with the saving grace being that even the corn is ridiculously faint.
