A good dry stout. May it get better, as it seems a little uneven. Flavorful and strong with sweet malt and enough hops to finish the deal. Nice roasted chocolate and coffee notes. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2006
Dark black color with a medium creamy brown head that lasts for a while. Chocolate, roasted malt and coffee aromas. Very bitter strong coffee flavor. OKBeer (1175) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - SEP 15, 2006
500 ml bottle. Pitch black colour with ruby highlights. Mostly diminishing frothy tan head. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, and roasty aroma. Acidic fruit, dark chocolate, roasty coffee flavours with a roasty bitter finish. Medium bodied, chewy but oily mouthfeel. HogTownHarry (7084) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - SEP 17, 2006
Bottle (500ml). Nice lively frothy-creamy lively pour, yelds a large lasting creamy tan pancake batter head, clear deep ruby. Very dry deep roasty aroma, nutty and oily, somewhat lactic and ... can’t put my finger on it, but something I don’t quite like. Taste is dry, roast malt, hints of coffee grounds, very dry hops, slightly sour milk - a little thin. Somewhat acidic and flat mouthfeel, finishes dry and bitter - takes a bit of getting used to, but I suspect this is pretty damned on-style - I’d love to try it on cask. markas101 (2529) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 18, 2006
50cl bottle. Almost black colour, roasted malt aroma. Coffee flavour, nice bitterness that lasts.

There’s none more black...
Nice roasty aroma, and a bitter flavour that faded nicely. Some acidity lingered, but generally an easy drinking stout.
Great looking label as well. Grovlam (4257) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 23, 2006
Bottled. Pitch dark color and nice creamy like head. Kind of like the great Guinness I thought. Aroma was licorice, and some smoky and roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full bodied but a surprisingly smooth and pleasing taste in mouth. Slight bitter and every so lightly sweet finish. Very nice stout I thought. probstblueribbon (4088) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2006
50 cL bottle from LCBO. Pours a nice deep brown, opaque. Nose of smokey toffee, treacle, sweet, roasted aromas. A bit of molasses. Thin bodies, low carbonation. Very dry, slightly acidic, bitter finish that fades quickly. Some of the burnt-roasted malt comes through in the mouth. Not a style I’m big on. Given teh nose, I would prefer some sweetness when I drink it. edfitz (118) - Toledo, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2007
Black pour with frothy head. Roasted aroma. Roasted malt flavor with a velvety feel. This was in my beer fridge for a while before I tried, because I just didn’t think it would be that good. I was wrong, it is very good. reakt (951) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 bottle from O’Neills. Blackish brown w. rocky tan head. Lovely full nose of nuts, granary bread, malts and caramel with a mettalic tinge. Taste to match, but it quickly turns to a sharp, bitter finish with some berry hints. Smooth thick body. Just ok.
