330 ml bottle into pint glass, best before 10/28/2017. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, floral, and grass; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, nuttiness, pepper, yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, floral, and grass; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, nuttiness, pepper, yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, smoke, char, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent roast/hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast/hop bitterness, increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an incredible dry stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very rich and complex roasted barley flavors; with complementing/balancing earthy hops and yeast in the background. A highly enjoyable offering, and best I’ve had in the style! omhper (25138) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - OCT 29, 2010
Bottled at L. Mulligan Grocer, Dublin. Ver yblack, rich head. Chocolate mud cake from nose to finish. Mid sweet with dense well rounded and well sized body. Plenty of licorice, notes of coffee and leather couch. Mildly warming finish with salty bitterness. A top stout with soft edges. beerfest5 (1207) - Cloneen, IRELAND - MAR 13, 2011
black extra stout, coffee, some chocolate, hints of vanilla, hop bitterness in the finish. absolutely delicious complex flavors, some american brewers can take a lesson from this one due to the complex flavors that dont require a double digit abv. extremely enjoyable, what a great unexpected find. What’s the matter, Craig?
What does it say on this jar?
Well I’m glad someone around here can read. The jar holds fourteen pickles. I had three yesterday, two for lunch today, and one and a half for snack. And now there are six and a half pickles in this jar. Simple math indicates...
Are you counting the one in your hand?
Ok, false alarm.
0.5L bottle from beer bier, Budapest. I am excited by the thought of an Irish craft beer company. This "leann follain" stut pours really nice. Deep black in colour with a lovely thick brown frothy head. Aroma is rustic, roasted coffee, laced with what seem dark chocolate. The aroma is warm, smokey, urnt and goes deep. medium to full body. Taste is first roasted coffee, malts with a slight burnt bitterness. medium carbonation clean finsih with slight longing bitterness. Nice stout. can compete with guinness FX and kills the guinness draught dead. pedrozo (7) - Dublin, IRELAND - APR 29, 2012 does not count
