Mild burnt caramel aroma and coffee flavours. Not much body but pretty smooth, should be stronger. An OK attempt.
On tap but served far too cold. Dark pour with ruby highlights and small creamy head. Nice roasty aromas - charred meat, a little espresso. The taste is initially caramel sweet and earthy, then the charred meat flavour kicks in and gives a nice dry finish. Lightly fruity as well. Light bodied and very easy drinking. Much better on tap than in the bottle. fletchfighters (1553) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 21, 2015
On tap at Freeway Hotel in Artarmon
Dark brown color, light tan head. Good soapy lacing.
Nose is muted as served way too cold. Oh well. Once warm, caramel, roasted malts, slightly sour but roasted coffee.
Taste is slightly too sweet but every reasonable. Roasted malts, caramel, corn, slightly sour coffee.
Light bodied and medium carbonation. A little heavy in the finish with the corn and the coffee notes get more heavy but a reasonable beer. Not that bad a brown ale that sits a little on the porter or stout side. Not as bad as ratings say. stevoj (5426) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 7, 2015
black with minimal head, sweet malt nose, molasses elements bring sweetness, burnt toast. Sweet and sticky finish. TedE (1424) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JAN 21, 2015
On tap at club central Hurstville. Slight smoky nose. Looks good, this is very dark brown with lasting cream head. Good lacing. Taste is spritzy chalky mineral water. Abrupt sour coffee finish. Interesting. Always served way too cold. Let it warm up a bit. DelBoy1203 (4) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 10, 2014 does not count
Delicious roasted malts with strong coffee aroma and flavours coming through.
Slightly bitter aftertaste.
For a commercially, mass-produced ale, this is a good beer.
PS: This is NOT a stout as noted by RateBeer. This is a dark ale, so don’t compare it to other stouts!

Tap @ West Point. Rarely seen on tap but happy if it was more regularly in Carlton dominated establishments instead of their usual slop. Nice, although simplistic roasted malt flavours and a lick of hops to freshen it up. The lightest stout ever? Mislabelled on ratebeer I would suggest. sm89walt (2079) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUL 15, 2014
Keg. Poured a dark brown with a fine, lasting and uniform lacing beige head. One of the least stout-like stouts I’ve ever had. Aromas of grain, slight roast and caramel. Light to medium body and a bit thin in terms of palate texture with medium to full carbonation and a short, soft intensity finish. More like a lager with some dark malts thrown in. Fine. Dark beer, small foam head, the aroma has some roasted malt notes more than others, like coffee and cereal. When is tasted a medium - full body is felt, with strong malt flavors, and a final pretty bitterness coming from te hops. markfield81 (42) - adamston, AUSTRALIA - OCT 2, 2013
A poor version of old, leave a bitter taste in your throat like they have tried to burn the something sweet but have pushed it to far.
