COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Aroma: Smelling of sweet vanilla sugar, some almond and bourbon nuances, a good measure of oak cask. Caramel and butterscotch as well.
Appearance: The brew is dark brown, almost black with ruby nuances, a tan small head with little lacing but good curtains.
Taste: The taste has the sweet vanilla, Caramel and butterscotch, dark dried fruits. Now a pleasant Madeira nuance is developing, some oak notes.
Palate: Little carbonation, soft but slightly watery.
Overall: Now it is starting to mature, much better than the fresh variant IMHO.
Note: Bottle 750 ml. Reviewed 2013-01-25.

Flaske 0,75 l. spandert av Rune under bonusseanse i Skibotn 5 Okt 12. pnet med smell & ryk. Dyp brun. Bra skum med litt farge. Litt filigranser p glasset. Skummet blir nesten helt borte. God ntte-/trearoma. Smaken noenlunde det samme. Har et underliggende stt whiskypreg. Litt syrlig fruktighet i avslutningen. Farlig lett-drikkelig.

75cl Bottle at Sloshfest. Clear dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of sweet bourbon like JD, vanilla and oak, burnt caramel, light roasted malts. Flavour is thinner than expected, sweet, alcohol, bourbon, bitter light roasted finish. Light to medium-bodied. Very much bourbon-oriented beer. Nice, but somehow feels artificial.

Corked 750ml bottle, thanks to Robert Dyrnes for buying it at Systembolaget in Kalix. Gives a good shot with smoke when opened. Pours a fawn-coloured head to a deep dark brown body. Dark malty aroma with almond and earth. Bourbon vanilla barrel to the taste buds added by chocolate and raisin, and upheld by a lingering bittersweet ending. Nice, but I had, in fact, expected more. Sampled @Papsoes summer tasting session. Pours translucent, the darkest brown, with a yellow blond lace on top. Refined, gently sweet roasted malts to the nose. Hint of tinned dark fruit, peppery caramel and vanilla. Sweet rounded malt flavor. Faint alcohol and a pleasant bitterness both from the malts and the hops. A touch of English licorice, creamed coffee and dark fruit marmelade. Smooth and balanced. Utterly complex with all ingredients well integrated. Yum!

On tap at lFestival 2012. A black one, or at least its dark, dark brown, and topped by a nice, finger-thick dark beige head. Some dried fruits and licorice on the nose, a touch of alcohol too, but mostly its roasted malts. The flavor has a nice bitterness and some alcohol, as well as licorice, dried fruits and a coffee kind of roastiness. Full body, lightly warming on the palate. Roasted finish with some sweetness and dried fruits. Nice, but not impressive. 120510
