COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Corked 750ml bottle, thanks to Robert Dyrnes for buying it at Systembolaget in Kalix. Gives a good shot with smoke when opened. Pours a fawn-coloured head to a deep dark brown body. Dark malty aroma with almond and earth. Bourbon vanilla barrel to the taste buds added by chocolate and raisin, and upheld by a lingering bittersweet ending. Nice, but I had, in fact, expected more. Shared with Finn on a dark eve in Skibotn, 05.10.2012.

Sampled @Papsoe’s summer tasting session. Pours translucent, the darkest brown, with a yellow blond lace on top. Refined, gently sweet roasted malts to the nose. Hint of tinned dark fruit, peppery caramel and vanilla. Sweet rounded malt flavor. Faint alcohol and a pleasant bitterness both from the malts and the hops. A touch of English licorice, creamed coffee and dark fruit marmelade. Smooth and balanced. Utterly complex with all ingredients well integrated. Yum!

On tap at ØlFestival 2012. A black one, or at least it’s dark, dark brown, and topped by a nice, finger-thick dark beige head. Some dried fruits and licorice on the nose, a touch of alcohol too, but mostly it’s roasted malts. The flavor has a nice bitterness and some alcohol, as well as licorice, dried fruits and a coffee kind of roastiness. Full body, lightly warming on the palate. Roasted finish with some sweetness and dried fruits. Nice, but not impressive. 120510

Bottle 75cl (Thanks Konstifik). A dark brown colour with a medium high beige head. An aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, licorice, wood and caramel. The taste is medium sweet. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a really long duration. A complex and wellbalanced beer with a lot of aroma and taste.

Sample at Papsoe’s courtesy of Joergen. Deep brown, head fades instantly. Smells amazing, huge bourbon nose. Flavor is really boozy, thin, with little malt, fizzy carbonation. Such a great smelling beer, but really disappoints.

Copenhagen Beer Festival, May 2012. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Rich dark malt aroma with toffee, licorice and dried fruit, and a touch of oak. Sweet dark malty flavour with oak and bourbon. Long oaky aftertaste
