COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnegie Porter började bryggas 1836 och är ett av det äldsta svenskbryggda ölet – tillika Sveriges äldsta aktiva varumärke som med decennierna blivit känt över hela världen. 175-årsjubileet firas med en Jubileumsbrygd, signerad av Carlsberg Sveriges bryggmästare Daniel Eriksson och Brooklyn Breweries bryggmästare Garrett Oliver.
– Om jag hade varit pizzabagare hade jag beskrivit brygden som ”extra allt”. Till skillnad från vanlig Carnegie Porter, som är underjäst, har vi använt både över- och underjästkultur till jubileumsbrygden. Det har gjort den välhumlad, men faten har samtidigt minskat bitterheten och adderat smakerna av vanilj, kokosnöt och lite bourbon, säger Daniel Eriksson.
I april anlände amerikanska bourbonfat till Carlsberg Sveriges bryggeri i Falkenberg. Daniel Eriksson slet hårt tillsammans med Garrett och hans bryggare från Brooklyn för att få alla 130 träfat på plats och genomföra tappningen av brygden. Till sin hjälp hade de representanter från Porters Drinkers Association och medarbetare från Carlsberg.
Under lagringstiden spelades det musik för trätunnorna från en öppen spellista på Spotify där allmänheten var med och påverkade valet av musik. Det spelades allt från Cole Porter, Brooklyn-låtar och klassisk musik till reklamlåtar från västkustkompisarna Pripps Blå och Falcon.
– Under lagringstiden blev ölet smakrikare och starkare, från planerade 6,9 procent till en slutprodukt på 8,8 procent. Om det var ljudvågorna som påverkade låter jag vara osagt, men portern utvecklades fantastiskt bra, säger Daniel Eriksson.

[ Trade by omhper ]. Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, dark berry, coconut, wood, vanilla, licorice. Flavour is light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, coconut, dark malt, chocolate, sweet malt, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, vanilla, and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, bourbon, and roasted malt, leading to a dry finish where the bourbon note lingers.

Draught at Ølfestival 2012. Clear red-brown coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet and light roasted aroma of caramel and vanilla with notes of chocolate. Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel and dark chocolate with notes of dried fruits and licorice. Sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and caramel aroma with woody vanilla hints. Roasted sweetish malty chocolate and carame lflavor with hints of bourbon and vanilla and weak hints of coffee. Has a roasted malty chocolate and caramel finish.

[email protected] (thanks rlgk!). Very deep copper colour, small head. Aroma is caramel, mild oak as well as some rather sweet maltyness and syrupy notes as well. Flavour is similar. Very sweet with a whiskyish sting.

On tap. Pours a dark brown with an orange hue and a beige head. Subtle roasty aroma with distinctly sweet vanillaish oak. Medium body, heavy sweet bourbony oak and subtle roast. No real bitterness, just heavy sweet Bourbon throughout. Very enjoyable. 110512

’Paul takes a brown shower’ tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Bruce. Clear dark brown beer. Little tan head. Smooth soft palate, a little dry. Nice soft chocolate but not that sweet. A little malt cream and mild bourbon biscuit. Dry finish. Pretty tasty.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London - many thanks to Bruce and the dude who gave him this beer. Pours deep, red-brown with a tight, creamy tan head. Some toasty dark malts in the nose, hints of cheese, some sugary chocolate. Medium to big sweet flavor, semi-dark malts, toasty bread, burnt brown sugar, subtle dry burnt wood. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish, some dry wood, mild vinous texture, sugary chocolate. Nice beer, pretty well balanced, tasty.
